Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Day 15 on BBC & Eurosport – TV Guide

0

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games reaches its final weekend with a ‘Super Saturday’ of live action across BBC Sport and Eurosport.

SOTB’s Olympics TV guides will take you through all the key action and list the must-see moments every day throughout the Games.

A total of 19 Olympic sporting disciplines feature on a busy ‘Super Saturday’ of action and a bumper 34 more gold medals will be won.

Here is a summary of the best action to look out for:

ATHLETICS: The final day of action inside the Olympic Stadium features six finals. Great Britain has three athletes in the men’s 1500m final – Jake Wightman, who won his semi-final, Jake Heyward and Josh Kerr – who will hope to finish on the podium. Kenya’s Abel Kipsang broke the Olympic record in the semi-finals while another Kenyan, world champion Timothy Cheruiyot, holds the fastest time this year.

There’s British interest in the women’s high jump with Morgan Lake competing; Eilish McColgan and Jessica Judd are in the women’s 10,000m final, then the athletics action reaches its climax with the 4x400m relay finals, with a British team featuring in the women’s event.

Before the final action in the stadium, day 15 begins early with the women’s marathon in Sapporo, capital of the northern island of Hokkaido.

TRACK CYCLING: The men’s madison headlines the penultimate day of track cycling, where Ethan Hayter and Matthew Walls team up for Great Britain. Elsewhere, Jason Kenny and Jack Carlin start their men’s keirin campaign, while Katy Marchant goes in the women’s sprint.

DIVING: Tom Daley goes for gold in the men’s 10m platform. Having won bronze in this event in London 2012, Daley has won the world title twice, most recently in 2017, and claimed gold at a Tokyo 2020 test event in May. He will also look to add the individual title to the synchronised gold he won in the first week of the Games.

BOXING: Galal Yafai, whose brothers Gamal and Kal are both professional boxers, takes on Carlo Paalam of the Philippines for boxing men’s flyweight gold.

MODERN PENTATHLON: After golden success for Britain’s Kate French in the women’s event, the men’s modern pentathlon takes place today and features Team GB’s Jamie Cooke, who was 2018 world and 2019 European champion, alongside Joe Choong.

EQUESTRIAN: Great Britain’s showjumpers – Holly Smith (Denver), Harry Charles (Romeo 88) and Ben Maher (Explosion W) – qualified seventh for the team event final. Maher was part of the team that won gold at London 2012 and is seeking a second medal in Tokyo, having won the individual competition.

BASKETBALL: The United States take on France for an incredible seventh Olympic men’s basketball title out of the last eight, since NBA players began competing at the Games in 1992.

GOLF: It’s the final day of the women’s golf tournament. American world number one Nelly Korda leads India’s Aditi Ashok by three shots heading into the final round.

HANDBALL: The men’s final takes place on Saturday with France and Denmark competing for gold.

BASEBALL: Hosts Japan will be aiming to win the gold medal when they take on the United States in Yokohama.
