BBC Sport’s comprehensive live coverage of Wimbledon returns in 2021 and fans will be able to see every moment of the unmissable grass court action across TV and digital platforms.
Always one of the highlights of the British summer sporting calendar, The Championships, which were cancelled in 2020 due to the global pandemic, take place at the All England Club from Monday, 28 June until Sunday, 11 July.
Sue Barker, who was recently awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, returns to anchor the BBC’s network TV coverage across BBC One and BBC Two throughout the fortnight, with Clare Balding presenting the evening coverage and the nightly Today at Wimbledon highlights programme.
Broadcasting from an enhanced on-site studio with additional virtual elements, viewers will still enjoy the traditional view of the Wimbledon grounds, but a virtual screen inside the studio will be used for video analysis, statistics and draws.
The BBC’s usual team of tennis legends, including John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Boris Becker, Billie Jean King, Tracy Austin, Pat Cash and Wimbledon favourite Tim Henman, will provide analysis and commentary throughout the fortnight.
Also part of the team this year will be Marion Bartoli, Annabel Croft, Anne Keothavong, John Lloyd, Chanda Rubin, Peter Fleming, Miles MacLagan, Pete Odgers, Arvind Parmar, Louise Pleming, Liz Smylie, Mel South and Colin Fleming.
Match commentary will be led by Andrew Castle, Andrew Cotter, Sam Smith, John Inverdale, Mark Petchey, Chris Bradnam, Simon Reed, Nick Mullins, Matt Chilton, Ronald McIntosh, Katherine Downes, David Law, Alison Mitchell, Dan Lobb, Paul Hand, Nick Lester, Andy Stevenson and James Burridge.
Reports and interviews from around the Wimbledon grounds will come from Lee McKenzie, Rishi Persad, Simon Mundie, Joe Wilson and Patrick Gearey.
Fans can watch the best of the Wimbledon action across BBC One and BBC Two’s network coverage, but there will also be the usual choice of up to 18 courts to choose from, via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, with a selection of these extra courts available via the Red Button.
Every available match will be streaming live on BBC iPlayer, and all the centre court action will be live in Ultra HD quality, as part of a BBC trial.
Viewers with compatible TVs and a high speed internet connection can watch every Centre Court match in Ultra-High Definition and High Dynamic Range.
As well as live matches, the BBC Sport website will also feature video clips, highlights, live text commentaries, exclusive player columns, reports analysis and live scores.
