ATHLETICS: The two-day women’s heptathlon competition draws to a close with the long jump, javelin and the 800m, as does the men’s decathlon, which reaches its climax over the 1,500m.
In women’s pole vault, Holly Bradshaw, who finished fourth at the 2019 world championships and fifth in Rio, competes for Great Britain, in a strong field which includes this year’s world number one is Katie Nageotte of the United States, Rio 2016 champion Katerina Stefanidi of Greece and reigning world champion Anzhelika Sidorova of the Russian Olympic Committee.
CANOE SPRINT: Great Britain’s reigning Olympic champion Liam Heath lines up in the semi-finals of the men’s K1 200m, with the final to follow a few hours later.
