The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games reaches its middle weekend of competition with the usual round-the-clock coverage of the best of the day eight action across BBC Sport and Eurosport.

SOTB’s Olympics TV guides will take you through all the key action and list the must-see moments every day throughout the Games.

A total of 26 Olympic sporting disciplines are in action on Saturday and another 21 gold medals set to be won. Here is a summary of the best action to look out for:

ATHLETICS: Dina Asher-Smith is the fastest British woman in recorded history and was part of the 4x100m relay team that won bronze in Rio 2016.

Today, she will be hoping to line up in the women’s 100m final at 1.50pm, an event in which no British athlete has won a medal in for 61 years. Asher-Smith won silver in this race at the 2019 World Championships, behind Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica.

Another highlight of the evening session, just before the women’s 100m final, is the 4x400m mixed relay, which is a new event for these Games, featuring two male and two female runners on the same team.

TRIATHLON: Kicking the action off on day eight is another new event introduced for the Tokyo Games – the triathlon mixed relay. Two-time Olympic medallist Jonny Brownlee leads the GB team, which also includes Alex Yee and Georgia Taylor-Brown, who won silvers in their individual events earlier in the week.

SWIMMING: Four finals take place on the penultimate day of action in the pool at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, including the mixed 4x100m medley relay, while American superstars Caeleb Dressel and Katie Ledecky are in action in the men’s 100m butterfly and women’s 800m freestyle finals respectively.

SAILING: The first sailing medals of the Games will be claimed on Saturday in the men’s and women’s RS:X windsurfing competitions. Britain’s Emma Wilson is already guaranteed a bronze medal in her event, while Tom Squires races for GB in the men’s event.

SHOOTING: Britain’s Seonaid McIntosh is back in action today in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions competition, a discipline, where the competitors shoot while kneeling, lying down and standing, that McIntosh has won major global titles. Also today, Great Britain feature in the trap mixed team event, with Tokyo bronze medallist Matthew Coward Holley and Kirsty Hegarty competing.

TENNIS: The tennis competition is nearing its climax and today today sees medal matches across the board, the highlight of which being the women’s singles final between Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic.

RUGBY SEVENS: Great Britain, who missed out on bronze in Rio five years ago, face France in the semi-finals of the women’s competition, on the final day of rugby sevens at Tokyo Stadium. The other semi-final sees New Zealand take on Fiji, then the medal matches take place from 9.30am.
