The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games has reached its halfway stage and BBC Sport and Eurosport will have the usual extensive round-the-clock coverage of day nine from Japan across its platforms.
SOTB’s Olympics TV guides will take you through all the key action and list the must-see moments every day throughout the Games.
A total of 26 Olympic sporting disciplines are in action on Sunday and 25 gold medals are set to be won. Here is a summary of the best action to look out for:
ATHLETICS: Always one of the standout highlights of any Games, today sees the fastest man on earth crowned Olympic champion in the men’s 100m final.
For the first time since Athens 2004, the final will take place without Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt, so who will step up a provide the drama?
Christian Coleman, the reigning world champion, is banned. The United States has Noah Lyles, though he may be an even better bet over 200m, where he’s world champion, while many consider Trayvon Bromell, who won US Olympic trials, to be the favourite.
Zharnel Hughes is set to lead the British bid for a medal alongside Reece Prescod and CJ Ujah.
SWIMMING: The final day in the pool sees five finals at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, the pick of which is the men’s 4x100m medley relay, which is expected to feature Great Britain’s Duncan Scott and Adam Peaty.
Before that, the men’s and women’s 50m freestyle finals see the world’s fastest sprinters go in a one-length sprint for glory. The men’s event features American superstar Caeleb Dressel, as well as GB’s Ben Proud.
CYCLING BMX FREESTYLE: One of the new disciplines introduced for these games, the Park Finals take place today at Ariake Urban Sports Park. Differing from the BMX racing events, the freestyle focuses on a minute-long series of tricks and skills.
Charlotte Worthington, a world bronze medallist in this discipline, lines up in the women’s event for Great Britain, while contending in the men’s event for GB is Declan Brooks.
GOLF: It’s the final round of the men’s golf tournament with the winning putt set to be made at around 8am UK time.
After three rounds of strokeplay at the Kasumigaseki Country Club, American Xander Schauffele leads Japanese home favourite and 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama by one shot. GB’s Paul Casey is a further shot back in a tie for third place, while Ireland’s Rory McIlroy is three shots off the lead.
GYMNASTICS: After the team events, the individual apparatus finals get underway on day nine with four medals up for grabs, including two finals where British gymnasts took gold five years ago in Rio – the men’s floor and men’s pommel horse, both won by Max Whitlock.
Whitlock is the world champion on pommel horse, while Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan won world bronze in the same event two years ago.
TENNIS: It’s the final day of action at the Ariake Tennis Park, where the men’s singles final between Germany’s Alexander Zverev and ROC’s Karen Khachanov leads a packed day of action, with the women’s doubles and mixed doubles finals also on the schedule.
HOCKEY: The men’s hockey competition reaches the quarter-final stage and Great Britain face India in their last eight encounter.
