The BBC and ITV will broadcast live coverage of the UEFA Euro 2020 Final between Italy and England at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 11 July.
After a nervy extra-time win in their semi-final against Denmark, that saw them overcome a deficit for the first time in the tournament, Gareth Southgate’s England players secured their place in the final of a major men’s football competition for just the second time in history.
Southgate and his side, led by captain Harry Kane, will hope to follow in the footsteps of England 1966 World Cup legends, such as Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Nobby Stiles, by winning a major tournament at home.
Their opponents, Italy, have a rich pedigree in international football, having won the World Cup four times and the European Championships once, and come into this match on the back of a 33-game unbeaten run, though they were made to work hard for their penalty shootout victory over Spain in the last four.
Fans will have a choice of viewing on the night with the BBC and ITV simulcasting live coverage of the final from Wembley, which kicks off at 8pm.
BBC One’s coverage starts at 6.20pm, presented by Gary Lineker, with studio analysis from Alan Shearer, Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard, while Gabby Logan will be based at pitchside with Alex Scott and Jurgen Klinsmann. Match commentary comes from Guy Mowbray and Jermaine Jenas, while pitchside reports and interviews will come from Kelly Somers.
ITV will be on-air from 6.30pm, where presenter Mark Pougatch will be joined by Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Roy Keane in the studio, with additional insight from pitchside will be provided by Seema Jaswal, Ashley Cole and Emma Hayes. Match commentary comes from Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon, while Gabriel Clarke will conduct the pitchside reports and interviews, and Peter Walton is on hand to analyse the key refereeing decisions.
In addition to live TV coverage, all the action will be broadcast live across both channel’s respective online streaming services – BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, and via ITV Hub and STV Player.
As well as an extended pre-match build-up, ITV has also confirmed that it will broadcast a special hour-long preview show on Saturday night at 10.55pm, featuring further build-up, insight and analysis ahead of the showpiece match from Mark Pougatch, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Ian Wright.
