BT Sport will show free live coverage of the 2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League as Chelsea take on Barcelona in their quest for a historic quadruple on Sunday, 16 May.
Fans will be able to watch all the action from Gothenburg via a free live stream on BT Sport’s YouTube channel, as well as on the BT Sport website app and website. The match will also air on BT Sport 2 for existing subscribers.
Chelsea are looking to continue a sensational season by sealing their first ever Champions League trophy and taking one step closer to an unprecedented quadruple.
Emma Hayes’ side have already clinched the League Cup and Women’s Super League titles this season, but victory on the European stage would be their greatest achievement in a remarkable campaign.
The only British side to win the Women’s Champions League before was Arsenal in 2007, but Barcelona, who are also searching for a maiden European crown, stand between Chelsea and history in Sweden.
The move mirrors BT’s approach for the men’s UEFA Champions League final, which has made available to watch for free via the BT Sport YouTube channel since 2016.
Commenting on its decision to broadcast the 2021 women’s final for free via its online platforms, Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said:
“Showing the highly anticipated UEFA Women’s Champions League Final advances our commitment to women’s sport, alongside BT’s partnerships with each of the four UK ‘Home Nations’ Football Associations to inspire girls and women to participate in football.
“We hope making the game accessible to all without a subscription will encourage new fans to watch and engage with women’s football during this exciting period for the game.”
BT Sport’s live coverage of the 2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League final gets underway at 7.15pm on Sunday, 16 May, presented by Clare Balding alongside studio guests Karen Carney, Eniola Aluko and Rachel Brown-Finnis, while match commentary comes from Adam Summerton and Lucy Ward.
All the action will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2, BT Sport YouTube and the BT Sport website/app, with the match itself kicking off at 8.00pm.
Anyone in the UK can watch the Champions League final for free via BT Sport app, which is available to download on mobiles, tablets, selected smart devices and games consoles.
Fans will also be able to watch online for free via the BT Sport website via this link.
