Euro 2020 may have to wait for another 12 months but the BBC is going to make sure football fans still get their tournament fix this summer with three weeks of classic match replays.
From 5-28 June, BBC Sport’s Euros Rewind series will give football fans the chance to relive a classic match from the UEFA European Championships every day on BBC TV, starting with memorable group games followed by some of the tournament’s iconic knockout clashes.
The BBC’s top football presenters – Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman – will introduce each programme throughout the series, where fans can enjoy the magic of Zinedine Zidane, the brilliance of Gareth Bale, Paul Gascoigne in his prime and a scintillating Wayne Rooney – to name just a few.
All classic matches will air across the afternoon schedules on BBC One or BBC Two, as well as online via BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport website, with repeat showings every evening on BBC Red Button, plus additional matches for BBC Scotland and BBC Wales viewers.
Alongside the scheduled games, there is also a chance for BBC viewers to vote for their favourite Euros final, with the top three being played in full over the last weekend of the series in June.

Euros Rewind is part of the BBC’s summer of classic sporting highlights, which have been added to its schedules in the wake of many of this year’s major sporting events being postponed or cancelled, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In July, the BBC is set to air classic tennis action from Wimbledon, plus highlights of the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.
Alongside the Euros Rewind series, BBC viewers in Wales will be able to watch replays of every Wales match from their momentous Euro 2016 campaign, with three of their matches – against Slovakia, England and their quarter-final versus Belgium – featuring on the UK-wide series.
BBC Scotland will also run its own classic Euros Rewind matches throughout June, starting with three games from Scotland’s 1992 European Championship campaign in Sweden, across the weekend of 5-7 June on the BBC Scotland channel.
The BBC will also give football fans another chance to see two documentaries that were shown during its coverage of Euro 2016 – Alan Shearer’s Euro 96: When Football Came Home on 7 June and Thierry Henry: My France, My Euros on 28 June.

The first BBC network TV edition of Euros Rewind is a full replay of one of the most memorable games from Euro 96 – featuring one of the tournament’s most iconic goals – as England faced old foes Scotland at Wembley.
After an underwhelming draw with Switzerland in their opening match, the Three Lions came into this game under pressure. Midfielder Paul Gascoigne had been substituted as England struggled in the second half against the Swiss, and was fearful of losing his place for this match. But manager Terry Venables kept faith with him, aware that Gazza was the England player most likely to produce a moment of magic.
The Scots, meanwhile, had been buoyed by their draw against the Netherlands. Though underdogs, they were dreaming of a first Wembley win since 1981.

SUNDAY 7th JUNE
WALES v SLOVAKIA

Relive Wales’s clash with Slovakia at Euro 2016, their first ever game at a European Championship finals and their first at a major championship since 1958.
While the Welsh may have lacked tournament pedigree, there was plenty of talent in Chris Coleman’s squad, which featured Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale and midfielder playmaker Aaron Ramsey, then with Arsenal.
Slovakia were also playing their first game at a European Championship finals, but many of their team had impressed at the 2010 World Cup, when they sensationally eliminated reigning champions Italy. Their starting line-up in Bordeaux included star midfielder Marek Hamsik and defensive stalwart Martin Skrtel.

YUGOSLAVIA v SPAIN

Two decades ago, Spain are widely considered talented under-achievers and defeat to Norway in their opening game means they have to win this match to guarantee progression to the quarter-finals.
The Spanish could call upon outstanding footballers such as Pep Guardiola and Raul, but can they hold their nerve against a Yugoslav side that has already racked up four goals in their opening two matches?

UKRAINE v NORTHERN IRELAND

Relive Northern Ireland’s clash with Ukraine at Euro 2016, as Michael O’Neill’s side go in search of their first victory at a European Championship finals.
It is Northern Ireland’s first major tournament since the 1986 World Cup, and qualification is all the more remarkable given that many of O’Neill’s squad play their club football in England’s lower leagues. Defeat to Poland in their opening group game has proved a reality check and, with Germany still to come, this is effectively a must-win match.

WEDNESDAY 10th JUNE
SWEDEN v ENGLAND

A full replay of a thrilling group game from Euro 2012, as the Three Lions try to record their first competitive win against Sweden.
England boss Roy Hodgson has only been appointed a month earlier, filling the void left by Fabio Capello’s resignation. His task is complicated by a suspension for star player Wayne Rooney, leaving towering striker Andy Carroll instead to lead the line in this game. A 1-1 draw with France in their first match has provided some encouragement and means victory against Sweden will leave the Three Lions in charge of their own fate.
The Swedes know defeat in Kiev will send them out and are pinning their hopes on brilliant centre-forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

THURSDAY 11th JUNE
NETHERLANDS v CZECH REPUBLIC

Relive one of the best games from Euro 2004, with the Dutch taking on the Czech Republic in a group match at the Estadio Municipal de Aveiro.
The Netherlands had surprisingly failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup, but they send a star-studded team to Portugal for this tournament, including attacking talents such as Arjen Robben and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Czechs had finished as runners-up at Euro 96, but arguably have a stronger squad at this tournament. Midfielder and captain Pavel Nedved is at the peak of his powers, Petr Cech and Tomas Rosicky are emerging as stars, and striker Milan Baros (then with Liverpool) is in deadly form that summer.

HUNGARY v PORTUGAL

Watch a full replay of a thrilling group match at Euro 2016, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal facing elimination if they lose to Hungary in Lyon.
The Portuguese have been wasteful in their first two games, both of which they drew, scoring with just one of their 49 attempts at goal. Star striker Ronaldo has yet to score and threw a reporter’s microphone into a lake when questioned during a team stroll ahead of this match. The under-pressure forward is aiming to become the first man to score in four different European Championship finals.
Hungary are taking part at the Euros for the first time since 1972 and have proved one of the tournament’s surprise packages. While already assured of a place in the next round, they still have the incentive of winning their group – and claiming a famous scalp – at the Stade de Lyon.
