The BBC will continue to broadcast a raft of special football programmes this weekend (11-12 April) in the continued absence of the professional game due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This includes the fourth of Match of the Day’s Top 10 Podcasts, in MOTD’s traditional Saturday night slot on BBC One, where Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright debate the greatest managers of the Premier League era.
Following that will be the second edition of Match of Their Day, where pundits choose three matches from the archives and reveal some of the stories behind each game.
This week it is the turn of Jermaine Jenas, who has selected a classic north London derby from October 2008 – the 4-4 draw between Arsenal and Spurs at the Emirates.
Another special edition of Football Focus will be shown on Saturday lunchtime, presented by Dan Walker from his home, featuring an extended interview with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
The BBC will also show a full replay of England’s 1990 semi-final against West Germany on Sunday afternoon.
A night of high hopes, great drama and heart-wrenching lows for England fans, the match was memorable for Paul Gascoigne’s tears and a nerve-shredding penalty shootout.
Relive the entire BBC broadcast, which was presented by Des Lynam, from 3pm on Sunday, on the BBC Sport website, Red Button and BBC iPlayer.
After starting its Sportscene Classic series with four thrilling Scottish Cup matches, BBC Scotland will focus on memorable league games this weekend.
Extended highlights of Henrik Larsson’s final match at Celtic Park in 2004 will be on BBC Scotland and the BBC Sport website on Friday evening from 7pm.
On Sunday, relive the epic final day of the 2003 season in its entirety. Rangers hosted Dunfermline Athletic and Celtic travelled to Kilmarnock on the final day with the title on the line.
