Sky Sports will broadcast exclusive live coverage of the culmination of the international football’s newest tournament with Portugal hosting the semi-finals and final of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.
England will be bidding to win their first piece of silverware since 1966 when they compete against the three other group winners of the top-ranked nations in League A of this new competition – hosts Portugal, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
After last summer’s heroics in the World Cup, England have gone from strength to strength under Gareth Southgate and are in contention to win UEFA’s newest competition, which was designed to replace regular friendlies with meaningful international matches.
The first semi-final between Portugal and Switzerland takes place in Porto on Wednesday, 5 June, with the second semi-final the following evening on 6 June between Netherlands and 2018 World Cup semi-finalists England in Guimaraes, with both matches kicking off at 7.45pm.
The inaugural Nations League concludes on Sunday, 9 June, when the two losing semi-finalists compete in a third-place play-off in Guimaraes, kicking off at 2pm, before the final in Porto later that day, which kicks off at 7.45pm.
England qualified for the Nations League Finals in Portugal having topped their group ahead of Spain and Croatia.
The Three Lions’ last competitive victory over the Netherlands came in Euro 96, a match that current manager Southgate played in, and his side were 1-0 winners the last time they met, in a warm-up fixture for the 2018 World Cup.
The Netherlands did not qualify for the World Cup but have since beaten Germany and France on their way to winning their Nations League group.
Fellow Nations League semi-finalists Portugal have included talisman Cristiano Ronaldo and rising star Joao Felix in their squad, as they aim to win their second international trophy in three years, having won the European Championships in France in 2016.
