ITV has announced its coverage plans for the 2019 edition of the world-famous Isle of Man TT Races, featuring all of the best action and highlights from this year’s event.
Matt Roberts returns to lead ITV4’s coverage throughout TT week, having co-presented the 2018 event with Jodie Kidd, who confirmed earlier this month on social media that she will not be part of the on-air team this year.
Former TT stars Steve Plater and Cameron Donald will join Roberts to provide analysis and comment on week’s races, while experienced motorsport broadcaster Dave Moore will provide commentary on all the action around the historic TT Mountain Course.
It is the second year of ITV4’s coverage being produced by Greenlight TV, following the switch of production rights for the TT’s television coverage to the Isle of Man-based company, replacing North One Television who produced ITV4’s highlights shows for nine years from 2009 to 2017.
ITV4’s TT coverage starts this year with two special documentaries, beginning on Monday, 27 May at 9pm with a look at the last lap of last year’s meeting – the final record breaking lap of the Senior TT. ‘One Three Five – Breaking The Barrier’ sees Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman look back at their epic duel on Senior Race Day and recreate how the 135mph barrier was broken.
On Tuesday, 28 May at 9pm, ‘The Greatest Race – Hislop vs Fogarty’ will tell the story of the 1992 Senior TT through interviews with Carl Fogarty and many others that were involved in this remarkable race.
These will be followed by two preview shows on Wednesday, 29 May and Thursday, 30 May, which will provide the final build-up to the 2019 TT Races.
The on track action highlights begin in earnest on Friday, 31 May with the TT qualifying highlights show, which summarises all of the best qualifying action ahead of Saturday’s first Race day.
All of the racing highlights will be captured in the race shows which will be broadcast every night from Saturday, 1 June to Saturday, 8 June at 9pm.
ITV4’s highlights programmes will be available to watch live or via catch-up on the ITV Hub. The full list of ITV4 programming can be found here.
