The BBC will broadcast every match from the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup match from Qatar in December.
The 16th edition of the competition, which kicks off on 11 December in Doha, features the club champions of six continents, including UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool.
Both of Liverpool’s games will be shown live on BBC network TV, while every other match will be available to watch online via the BBC Sport website – bbc.co.uk/sport – and on the BBC iPlayer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will take part from the semi-final stage, whilst also fielding a separate team back in the UK in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Liverpool play their first match on 18 December, followed by either the final or third-place play-off on 21 December, both of which will be held at the new Education City Stadium in Doha, which has been built for the World Cup.
Joining the Reds in Qatar are Brazilian side Flamengo, who beat Argentina’s River Plate to win the recent Copa Libertadores final, a match which was televised for the first time by the BBC in November.
Host team Al-Sadd, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, Tunisia’s Esperance de Tunis, Monterrey from Mexico, as well as Oceanian champions Hienghene Sport, from the tiny Pacific island of New Caledonia, complete the seven-team line-up.
Commenting on the corporation’s deal, Philip Bernie, the BBC’s head of TV Sport, said:
“We’re very excited to broadcast the FIFA Club World Cup and show audiences the best teams in world football across our free-to-air channels.
“Along with the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship and FA Cup, this competition is a fantastic addition to the BBC’s football portfolio.”
The BBC also covered Liverpool’s last venture in the competition back in 2005, following their memorable Champions League triumph in Istanbul, but lost 1-0 to Sao Paulo in the final.
Real Madrid are the reigning Club World Cup champions after they defeated Al-Ain 4-1 in Abu Dhabi last year.
Qatar will host the next two Club World Cup tournaments in 2019 and 2020, with both serving as test events for the country hosting the 2022 World Cup, which has been moved to a winter slot because of the oppressive summer heat in the country.
