Sky Sports has confirmed the return of a dedicated channel for its coverage of the 2020 William Hill PDC World Darts Championship.

Sky Sports Arena will be rebranded as Sky Sports Darts from 6am on Thursday, 12 December, running through to Friday, 3 January 2020.

The 2020 PDC World Darts Championship kicks off on Friday, 13 December and culminates with the traditional New Year’s Day final at Alexandra Palace and viewers can see every minute of the action live on the dedicated Sky Sports Darts channel, which returns for its sixth consecutive year.

As well as live coverage of every arrow thrown in north London, there will be a host of supporting programming on the channel over the festive period.

Twenty-two days of non-stop darts coverage will focus on the live action, but also feature extended highlights, classic matches and special documentaries, including a look back on the career of five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld, who is playing in his last ever PDC World Championship.

Sky Sports Main Event and Sky One will also broadcast the live action on selected days throughout the tournament.

Dave Clark, David Croft and Laura Woods will present Sky Sports’ live coverage of the 2020 event, which features 16 days of live action and 12 bumper double sessions of afternoon and evening darts.

Sky Sports has assembled a varied commentary team to keep fans informed, entertained and up to speed with all the darting drama.

Top BDO women’s player Laura Turner and South Africa’s leading PDC player Devon Petersen will join the commentary team at Alexandra Palace this year, which is led by Sky Sports regulars Wayne Mardle, John Part, Mark Webster and Rod Harrington, alongside Rod Studd, Stuart Pyke and Nigel Pearson.

One of the biggest stories ahead of this year’s PDC showpiece is ‘Barney’ bowing out of the sport after the competition and he will be hoping for a fairy-tale finish.

Barneveld’s compatriot Michael van Gerwen, the reigning world champion, is eyeing a fourth Alexandra Palace triumph on New Year’s Day and he will be determined to defend his crown.

Alongside dedicated coverage on Sky Sports Darts TV channel over the festive season, the Sky Sports website – skysports.com/darts – as well as the Sky Sports app and Twitter account @SkySportsDarts, will keep fans up to date with all the latest news throughout the tournament.

The PDC World Darts Championship is part of a festive season of live action on Sky Sports that includes football from the Premier League, EFL and SPFL, England Test match cricket and much more.

Sky Sports Darts will be available on Sky channel 408 (HD), 862 (SD) and on streaming service NOW TV, through a Sky Sports pass, from Thursday, 12 December.
