Sky Sports and BT Sport have confirmed their opening live matches of the 2021/22 Premier League season which kicks off in August.
Following the announcement of the full fixture list for the new season, the Premier League’s two main live broadcast partners have made their choices of live matches for the first month of the season.
Sky Sports will begin the 2021/22 season with title holders Manchester City’s clash at Tottenham and Brentford’s Premier League debut against Arsenal on the opening weekend.
Six other matches are due to be shown live on Sky Sports in August, including Champions League winners Chelsea’s visits to Arsenal and Liverpool on consecutive Sundays.
BT Sport’s first game in the new season will be on Saturday 14 August when Manchester United welcome old rivals Leeds United to Old Trafford. Two more live fixtures follow on BT Sport, including Manchester City’s home clash against Arsenal.
These fixtures will take place across a midweek round covering the end of November and the beginning of December, and a further midweek set of fixtures in late December.
In total, Sky Sports will show 128 exclusively live Premier League matches during the 2021/22 season, BT Sport will televise 52 and 20 will air across two matchdays over the festive period on Prime Video.
This arrangement is set to remain in place until at least 2025, after the Premier League agreed in principle to roll over its TV rights deals with all four UK broadcast partners for a further three years.
Free-to-air highlights will continue to be shown on Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2, every Saturday and Sunday throughout the season on BBC One, with special editions covering midweek fixtures.
