Sky Sports has announced that its exclusive live coverage of Scotland and Northern Ireland’s decisive UEFA Euro 2020 Play-off Finals will be made available to watch via its free-to-air channels.

The decision will allow fans from both nations to watch all the action in its entirety in what is sure to be a dramatic night of international football.

Scotland are seeking to book their place in a major international tournament for the first time since the 1998 World Cup, while Northern Ireland look to repeat their qualification for Euro 2016, which was their first major tournament for 30 years.

The pay-TV broadcaster says it has made these matches available to watch on its free-to-air channels due to their “historic, national significance…in recognition of the unique circumstances and the impact the pandemic is having on fans”.

Live coverage of Scotland’s away clash against Serbia on Sky Sports Football will simulcast on Pick, available on Freeview channel 35 and Freesat 144, as well as free-to-view in high definition on Sky One.

At the same time, Northern Ireland play Slovakia at Windsor Park and coverage of this match on Sky Sports Premier League will be simulcast on Challenge, available on Freeview channel 47 and Freesat 146.

Both matches kick-off at 7.45pm with live coverage across all Sky channels starting at 7pm.

Commenting on the broadcaster’s decision, Rob Webster, Sky Sports managing director said:

“We know how significant these fixtures could be for fans of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

With two sides on the brink of qualifying for a major tournament, we felt it was the right moment in these exceptional and unique circumstances to make the games more widely available.

“Sky Sports is a proud partner to many sports, both in the UK and around the world, and we have strived to stand alongside sport in unprecedented circumstances this year.”

All four UEFA Euro 2020 Play-off Finals will be covered exclusively live by Sky Sports on Thursday, 12 November, including the early kick-off between Georgia and North Macedonia, while Hungary’s clash against Iceland can be viewed via the Red Button on Sky Sports Football.

Fans will also be able to access the matches via mobile, laptop or tablet devices on Sky Go and NOWTV, while clips and highlights will be available to watch on SkySports.com and Sky Sports’ social media accounts, including YouTube.

In addition to Sky’s live coverage on its free-to-air channels, the BBC and ITV will also broadcast highlights of both matches on Thursday evening.

BBC Scotland will have an hour-long Sportscene programme rounding up the night’s events in Belgrade from 11pm, while Stephen Watson will present a special Match of the Day Northern Ireland on BBC One NI at 11.25pm.

Both of the these programmes will be available to watch live online across the UK or via catch-up on BBC iPlayer.

ITV Sport will also broadcast highlights of the UEFA Euro 2020 Play-off Finals on Thursday night, as part of its round-up of a busy night of international football at 11.30pm on ITV and STV, presented by Mark Pougatch.

Also on Thursday evening, ITV and STV will show live coverage of England’s home friendly against Republic of Ireland from 7.30pm, while S4C has coverage of Wales’ home international against the United States, meaning all the Home Nations’ matches will be available to watch live across free-to-air channels.
