Premier Sports has secured the rights to broadcast Celtic and Rangers pre-season friendlies this July as both sides prepare for the beginning of the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership campaign.
Reigning Scottish champions Celtic and their Old Firm rivals will start their pre-season in France challenging a selection of French clubs with both taking part in the Veolia Trophy
The friendly matches will be played at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium, starting on 16 July when Celtic face Nice and Rangers play Lyon.
Then on 18 July, Rangers will play Nice, which will be followed by Celtic’s clash against hosts Lyon. The double-headers will kick off at 5.15pm and 7.45pm respectively on both matchdays.
All four of these matches will be shown exclusively live on Premier Sports 1, with a further three friendly matches featuring Celtic and Rangers also being shown on the channel the following week.
Celtic will play current French league champions Paris St-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, 21 July, while Rangers welcome fellow Scottish Premiership side Motherwell to Ibrox on 22 July, before English League One Champions Coventry City visit as they prepare for the season ahead in the Championship.
In addition to the friendlies, Premier Sports subscribers will also be able to watch Celtic start their European campaign in August with coverage confirmed for Celtic’s first three qualifiers, subject to progression.
Premier Sports will also cover Rangers’ start to their European campaign in August with live coverage of their first away qualifier.
The subscription channel, which has covered Celtic and Rangers’ pre-season matches for most of the last decade, will be the home for Scottish knockout Football from the start of the 2020/21 season, broadcasting live matches from both the Scottish Cup and Betfred Cup as part of the SPFL’s new TV deal.
