ITV4 to broadcast PGA Tour golf highlights

ITV Sport has picked up the rights to broadcast weekly free-to-air coverage of the PGA Tour for the rest of the 2020 season.

One-hour highlights of the remaining 12 tournaments to be played on the 2020 PGA Tour calendar, including the end-of-season FedEx Cup Playoffs, will be shown every Wednesday on ITV4.

Coverage starts with the best of the action from the Charles Schwab Challenge, the first event on the US tour to played after an enforced 12-week break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

World number one Rory McIlroy headlined a star-studded field at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, that also featured Justin Rose and Ian Poulter, alongside home favourites Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson.

Other highlights throughout the summer include the RBC Heritage at the Harbour Town Golf Links course, and the three FedEx Cup Playoffs events – The Northern Trust, BMW Championship and the Tour Championship – which round off the 2019/20 season from late August.

ITV4’s PGA Tour highlights deal brings coverage of professional golf back to the ITV network for the first time in over three decades.

The sport was a fairly regular fixture on the channel in the 1970s and 1980s, mainly as part of its World of Sport programme. During that period, ITV secured the rights to broadcast live coverage of the Ryder Cup and the Masters Tournament at Augusta.

Several pro-celebrity events have also been broadcast on ITV down the years, including the All Star Cup as recently as 2006.

All of ITV4’s PGA Tour highlights programmes will be available to watch live online via the ITV Hub – itv.com/itv4.
