Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic battle it out for the first piece of silverware of the season in the 2019 Betfred Cup Final and BT Sport will be providing comprehensive all-day coverage from Hampden Park.

The two rivals, who are neck-and-neck in the Scottish Premiership, will do battle at the national stadium for the League Cup title as Rangers bid to end Celtic’s run of clean-sweeping all before them north of the border.

The previous meeting saw Celtic beat ten-man Rangers 2-0 but Sunday represents a clean slate for Steven Gerrard’s men in what promises to be a tempestuous, pulsating encounter.

Celtic have re-written the record books with their incredible triple treble triumph and Neil Lennon’s side will be aiming to stretch their winning run to 10 straight domestic competitions.

It’s one of the biggest days in the Scottish football calendar and BT Sport are pulling out all the stops as part of its live and exclusive coverage of its last Betfred Cup Final, before Premier Sports take over the rights to the competition from next season.

BT Sport’s coverage of the match will begin at 9am and finish at 6pm, totalling a huge nine hours to cover the match, which kicks off at 3pm.

The build-up begins with an episode of the BT Sport series What I Wore, where Rangers manager Steven Gerrard describes his passion for football via the shirts which have defined his life and career.

Then at 9.15am – Old Firm Car Pool – where Alex Rae and Chris Sutton pick up a few familiar faces on their way to the final. The Old Firm heroes share some incredible stories from their experiences of all-Glasgow clashes.

The live programming begins at 10am with the Big Hampden Breakfast, where Darrell Currie and special guests, including Alan Hutton, Darren O’Dea and Rio Ferdinand, cover all of the morning’s build-up to the final, followed by a half-hour Scottish Football Extra at 11am.

A look back at the tournament so far – Betfred Cup: Road to the Final – follows at 11.30am, then at 12pm – Old Firm Memories – a look back at all the previous League Cup finals where Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers faced-off.

Then at 1pm, the main build-up show begins with a full two hours of features, analysis and interviews ahead of kick-off, presented by Darrell Currie.

He will be joined in the studio throughout the afternoon by BT Sport regulars including Chris Sutton, Stephen Craigan, Ally McCoist, Gordon Strachan and Alex Rae.

Match commentary will be led by Rory Hamilton, alongside Sutton and Craigan, while Emma Dodds and Connie McLaughlin will provide live reports and interviews throughout the day.

All the special build-up programming and live match coverage will be broadcast exclusively on BT Sport 1 and in ultra high-definition on BT Sport Ultimate, on TV and across BT’s digital platforms, including the BT Sport app and BTSport.com.

Commenting on its expanded coverage of the match, Grant Philips, executive producer and match director for Sunset+Vine, who produce BT Sport’s Scottish football output, told the Daily Record:

“We are throwing everything at it. It’s our last one, a huge game for BT Sport and our Sunset and Vine team in Glasgow.

“We love covering Scottish football and that’s reflected in everything we do up here.”
