Europa League Qualifier: BT Sport to show Burnley v Aberdeen

Burnley and Aberdeen are set for a two-legged ‘Battle of Britain’ showdown in the UEFA Europa League and the decisive second leg of their second qualifying round tie will be shown exclusively live on BT Sport.

The intriguing all-British showdown will be settled exclusively live on BT Sport 1 from 7.15pm on Thursday, 2 August, with the match kicking off at 7.45pm.

Live coverage will also be available to watch in 4K UHD and online via btsport.com and the BT Sport app.

A raucous affair is in store as Turf Moor hosts its first European game for 52 years following the Clarets’ sensational seventh-placed finish in the Premier League last term.

Burnley will certainly fancy their chances of marking the occasion in style, particularly if they can avoid defeat at Pittodrie in next Thursday’s first leg.

However, boss Sean Dyche will not underestimate the threat Aberdeen – and highly-rated opposite number Derek McInnes – can pose to his side’s bid to reach the group stages.

The Dons have been runners-up to Celtic for the past four years in the Scottish Premiership and in each of those seasons, they emerged victorious at this point in the competition.

And with their big domestic kick-off arriving a week earlier than Burnley’s, Aberdeen will also hope to hold a slight physical edge across the two clashes.

After such an unexpectedly loaded opening assignment, the victors will then need to win a further two ties to guarantee a spot in the group-stage draw on 20 September.

Darrell Currie will present BT Sport’s live coverage of the match on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 4K UHD, alongside guests Chris Sutton and John Hartson. Match commentary will be provided by Steve Bower and Stephen Craigan, while pitchside reports and interviews come from Natalie Quirk.

BT Sport is the exclusive UK broadcaster of the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League for the next three seasons, and will be the only place to watch live coverage and highlights of every main-draw game on TV and online.

In addition, exclusive live Premier League, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup and Betfred Cup games feature all season long across BT Sport.
