Free Sports has signed a carriage deal with Virgin Media which will see the free-to-air sports channel be made available to cable viewers for the first time.
Featuring in a mix of domestic and international programming from across the world of sport, Free Sports will be made available to every Virgin TV customer via channel 553 from Saturday, 21 July.
Broadcasting up to 1000 events a year, the channel covers a mixture of live coverage and highlights of football, cricket, tennis, rugby, athletics and motorsport action as well as basketball, ice hockey and even drone racing.
Some of the top action on offer over the coming months includes live International football friendlies, Premier League teams’ pre-season friendlies, Guinness PRO14 rugby union, ATP World Tour 250 tennis series, grassroots rugby league, British Basketball League and Red Bull Air Races.

Launched in August 2017, Free Sports is the UK’s only dedicated free-to-air general sports channel and is available through Freeview, Sky, Freesat, TalkTalk, BT Platforms and TVPlayer. Free Sports is also set to launch an high-definition version of its channel in due course.
Free Sports and its sister channel Premier Sports have also launched a fresh on-air look and new logos ahead of the start of its exclusive coverage of Guinness Pro14 rugby union, which starts in late August.
