Rio’s Olympic Games is entering the finishing straight with three more days remaining and Great Britain will be looking to add to their historic medal tally on day 14, live across BBC TV, Red Button and Online.
Usain Bolt completed another stunning Olympic sprint double by winning the 200m, while Alistair Brownlee’s domination of the men’s triathlon and Jade Jones’ triumph in the taekwondo took Britain’s gold medal tally to 22 and counting, with GB still above China in the medal table.
There are more hopes for golden success on day 14 with the women’s hockey final, men’s taekwondo and individual showjumping, while many of the team sports enter their closing stages with the medals set to be decided.
HOCKEY: Great Britain’s women’s hockey team will be targeting a gold medal as they face defending Olympic champions the Netherlands at 21:00, with live coverage of the whole match on BBC One.
Britain set up the gold medal clash with an impressive 3-0 semi-final win over New Zealand and are hoping to produce another memorable hockey triumph, 28 years after the men’s side won gold at Seoul in 1988.
Captained by Kate Richardson-Walsh, they’ve won all seven of their matches in Rio and reached their first final with a superb 3-0 win over New Zealand in the semi-finals.
Now the women’s team, who won bronze in London 2012, will now be hoping to emulate the men’s side that memorably won gold nearly three decades ago.
ATHLETICS: Having already won the 100m and 200m sprint double, Usain Bolt will seek to secure the last missing piece of his ‘treble treble’ when he runs for Jamaica in the men’s 4x100m relay final (02:35), in what is expected to be his last Olympic appearance. The final also features Great Britain.
Also on the schedule, Eilish McColgan has qualified for the women’s 5000m final (01:40), which features Ethiopia’s 10,000m champion and world-record holder Almaz Ayana, while Holly Bradshaw, who finished sixth at London 2012, is through to the women’s pole vault final, which begins at 00:30.
TAEKWONDO: Lutalo Muhammad competes in the men’s -80kg division for Great Britain, where he could face former British and world number one Aaron Cook, who has qualified for the event Moldova after switching allegiances following a much publicised dispute prior to the London 2012 Games.
MODERN PENTATHLON: A combination of fencing, swimming, show jumping, running and shooting, the women’s competition concludes on Friday evening from 22:00.
Britain has a fine women’s pentathlon record with silver medals at the past two Olympics, a bronze in Athens and both gold and bronze at Sydney 2000. Sweden play Germany in the women’s football final.
BOXING: Team GB boxer Joe Joyce will stay on course for another super-heavyweight gold if he battles through his semi-final.
Joyce is following in the footsteps of Anthony Joshua, who won gold in this weight division in 2012, and is guaranteed at least a bronze after a one-sided points win over Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov in the quarter-finals.
The Londoner will next face Kazakhstan’s Ivan Dychko, who should be a familiar face, as he lost at this same stage to Joshua on points four years ago.
Elsewhere in Rio, Ben Maher and Nick Skelton go for glory in the men’s individual show jumping final, Tom Daley, who won bronze in the men’s synchronised 10m platform, is in action in the preliminary heats of the individual event, while its women’s finals day in water polo and football.

This is the sixth occasion the women’s version of the sport has been staged in the Olympics, and each of the previous five finals have been decided by just one goal.
Brazil have a rich tradition in the sport, but are yet to win Olympic gold, with the USA successful on four occasions, Norway once, and the Brazilians runners-up twice.
There is also taekwondo at Carioca Arena 3 with the competition now at the quarter- and semi-final stage in the men’s -80kg and women’s -67kg disciplines.
The schedule is a gruelling one for the competitors, with all of the bouts in each division taking place on the same day, and the finals will follow later this evening, with Britain’s Lutalo Muhammad among the contenders.
The semi-finals of the men’s basketball gets under way at 23.00, with the second place in Sunday’s final to be decided.
