Sky Sports has announced the two ties it will screen live as part of its coverage of the fifth round of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup in December as the competition reaches the last four.
Both televised ties feature Championship sides going head-to-head against tough Premier League opposition with top flight leaders Chelsea travelling to the iPro Stadium to face Derby County on Tuesday, December 16, kicking-off at 7.45pm.
These two sides haven’t met in the League Cup for 42 years and the game will be the first time in this season’s competition that Derby have faced higher-league opposition.
The Rams have knocked out Carlisle United, Charlton Athletic, and Reading before Tuesday’s 5-2 thumping of Fulham in their fourth round meeting at Craven Cottage.
Chelsea progressed to the quarter-finals following a hard-fought victory against Shrewsbury Town at Greenhous Meadow.
Didier Drogba’s opener for the Blues was cancelled out by Shrews striker Andy Mangan, but defender Jermaine Grandison deflected a cross into his own net to see Chelsea triumph.
This will be followed on Wednesday, December 17, also kicking off at 7.45pm, by Bournemouth’s home tie against last season’s Premier League runners-up Liverpool, who last won the League Cup back in 2012, at Goldsands Stadium.
Bournemouth are in the last eight of the League Cup for the first time in their history and this will be the first ever meeting in the competition between the Cherries and eight-time winners Liverpool.
Eddie Howe’s men defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1 in Round 4, courtesy of strikes from Eunan O’Kane and Callum Wilson, while Liverpool also triumphed 2-1, with late goals from Mario Balotelli and Dejan Lovren.
The draw for the semi-finals of this season’s Capital One Cup will take place live on Sky Sports immediately after the conclusion of the second televised tie on December 17.
Sky Sports will again screen 15 matches from this season’s Capital One Cup, including both legs of each semi-final and the final exclusively live, while terrestrial highlights of every round will be shown on BBC One in The League Cup Show.

The Semi-Final draw for the Capital One Cup will take place live on Sky Sports immediately after the conclusion of the AFC Bournemouth v Liverpool quarter-final.
The two-legged ties will be played on January 20-12 and January 27-28, with every match live broadcast on Sky Sports.
