BT Sport viewers will be able to enjoy even more top flight live sports programming following the launch of BT Sport Extra, the network’s new ‘Red Button’ service.
Airing at at selected times, BT Sport Extra will provide viewers with additional content alongside the already strong line-up on its three existing core channels – BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN.
It is the first time that BT Sport, which came on-air in August 2013, has operated a TV red button service and the launch of BT Sport Extra enhances the broadcaster’s multi-platform offering ahead of the arrival of exclusive live UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League football rights from next season.
It complements to the channel’s existing app and website btsport.com, where up to now additional live matches not shown on the main three BT Sport channels were aired as ‘Digital Exclusives’.
BT Sport’s new red button service launches on September 19 on BT TV (except to those receiving the service via a TV aerial) and on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform with the live Ligue 1 match between French football clash between Bordeaux and Evian, kicking off at 7.30pm,
To access BT Sport Extra viewers simply press the red button on their remote on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform or switch to BT Sport Extra on channel 527 on BT TV.
BT Sport Extra is included automatically within viewers’ existing BT Sport pack and will also be available on Virgin Media in the coming weeks.
Viewers can access the BT Sport website for the BT Sport Extra line-up while customers using BT TV can look ahead using the EPG. Additionally, BT Sport Extra will carry information relating to upcoming events.
