Jennie Gow is to join ITV Sport as presenter of its live coverage of the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship.
The presenter, who has an proven track-record of presenting a variety of motorsport events on TV and radio, will front ITV4’s live coverage of the world’s first fully-electric racing series, which starts on September 13 in Beijing.
Currently a pit-lane reporter on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Formula 1 coverage, Jennie previously presented the BBC’s MotoGP coverage in 2010, as well as other motorsport programmes for Channel 4 and MotorsTV, and was also part of the Sky Sports News presenting team.
Commenting on her new Formula E presenting role with ITV4, Gow says: “I’m delighted and very proud to have been asked to lead ITV4’s coverage of Formula E.
“I’m a massive motorsport fan and I’m really excited about this brand new series.
“It’s great to be involved in a new chapter of motorsport history from the very beginning, and I can’t wait for the season to begin.”
Gow confirmed via Twitter that she will continue her 5 live Formula 1 reporting role, alongside her new ITV4 Formula E commitments.
ITV Sport will producing its own studio coverage of every event during the series with Gow being joined by a selection of expert pundits who will lend their insight into the cars, the stars and the on-track action.
Each live ITV4 programme will feature comprehensive race coverage together with all the build-up, including highlights from the day’s earlier practice and qualifying sessions, plus podium celebrations and post-race interviews.
Joining Jennie in the studio to lend their expert insight into the cars, the stars and the on-track action at the first race are Jann Mardenborough and respected race engineer Kyle Wilson-Clarke.
ITV4’s coverage will take the world feed commentary team for the on-track action, with four-time IndyCar champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti calling the action alongside lead commentator Jack Nicholls, while pit-lane reports will come from Nicki Shields alongside McLaren F1 mechanic Mark Priestley, who will provide further technical insights.
ITV Sport secured the rights to screen the inaugural Formula E electric single-seater championship back in March, with the series set to race around iconic cities like Beijing, London, and Los Angeles.
The first season starts in China in September, with the final Formula E race scheduled to take part in Battersea Park in London on June 27, 2015.
Team backers include Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Virgin entrepreneur Richard Branson, and among the drivers are experienced Formula 1 campaigners Jarno Trulli, Nick Heidfeld and Bruno Senna.

Alongside Formula E, ITV’s free-to-air motorsport portfolio also includes live British Touring Car Championship action, along with highlights of British Superbikes, World Rally Championship and, new for 2014, MotoGP.
