British Eurosport will screen live and exclusive coverage of reigning WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko’s latest world heavyweight title defence against Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev.

Pulev will fight the imperious heavyweight champion of the world Klitschko at the o2 World in Hamburg, Germany.

This is the second consecutive Klitschko world title fight to be shown live in the UK on the pan-European sports channel, with Eurosport having shown the Ukrainian’s previous title defence against Australian Alex Leapai back in April.

Born in Sofia, Kubrat ‘The Cobra’ Pulev, 33, boasts a record of 20 wins, 11 by knockout and no defeats so far in his professional career, though he faces the toughest challenge of all to preserve that unbeaten record.

Pulev had a glittering amateur career, including winning the gold medal at the European Championships in Liverpool in 2008, then as a professional he was crowned IBF International Champion in 2011, becoming European heavyweight champion in 2012/2013 and is now the current number one in the IBF rankings.

Last year, Pulev defeated the former world championship contender Tony Thompson on points, after which, the IBF announced him the official mandatory challenger to heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Kubrat Pulev said: “I will get the titles. I am ready to replace Wladimir Klitschko as the world champion.”

In response, Klitschko said: “Kubrat Pulev has an impressive record as an amateur as well as a professional. He has very good skills and I will definitely not underestimate him.

“I am looking forward to boxing in Hamburg. Everybody knows I have a special relationship with this city and the atmosphere in the o2 World has always been unbelievable”.

David Kerr, Managing Director of British Eurosport said, “We are delighted to confirm British Eurosport’s second successive World Heavyweight title fight in the classic Saturday night slot.

“Pulev has proved his mettle with the win over Tony Thompson and will put an undefeated record on the line against Wladimir Klitschko, whose reign as heavyweight champion is now only exceeded by Joe Louis.”

British Eurosport’s on-air presentation and commentary teams will be confirmed in due course.

Regular Sky Sports News host Charlie Webster presented Eurosport’s coverage of the Klitschko v Leapai fight back in April, becoming the first woman to host live world championship boxing on UK television.
