ParalympicsGB will be looking to build on their success so far on the slopes and sheets as the Sochi Winter Games reaches day four and you can follow all the live action on Channel 4 and More4.
Kelly Gallagher made sporting history in the women’s visually impaired Super-G yesterday as she claimed Great Britain’s first ever Winter Paralympics gold medal.
After finishing last in the downhill event on Saturday, the onus was on Gallagher and her guide Charlotte Evans to deliver and the pair did just that, posting a time that was never beaten.
There was further joy for ParalympicsGB as Jade Etherington secured bronze, adding to the downhill silver she won on day one.
The pair will be back in action again on Tuesday as they hunt for even more medals in the Super-Combined (visually impaired), an event that will be eagerly anticipated amongst British fans and will certainly be welll worth getting up to see if yesterday’s results are anything to go by.
Great Britain have been set a target of between two and six medals for these Games and they have already have three in the bank.
Super-G gold medalist Gallagher is ranked second in the world in Super-Combined and will be a strong hope to increase the tally of GB medals in Sochi.
In the sit-ski category, Great Britain’s Anna Turney has the opportunity to put right the frustrations of her Games so far.
She didn’t have the best of times in the Super-G after a few small errors saw her slip outside of the medals and finish a heartbreaking fourth.
Mick Brennan will also be back in action for Great Britain in the men’s Super Combined in the sitting category.
Wheelchair Curling is hotting up and after battling to two hard-fought wins over Sweden and South Korea on Sunday, followed by a thrashing of Slovakia 12-2 the day after, Aileen Neilson’s GB team are on course to meet their minimum pre-Games target of a semi-final place.
Neilson’s side currently sit joint second in the standings after four games, with their only defeat coming in the first game against the Canadians.
They may only have been ranked fifth coming into the Games, but Great Britain are in excellent form and will be confident of winning both of their matches against Norway and Finland today.
Elsewhere, the Ice Sledge Hockey competition resumes after a day’s rest on Monday with a fiery clash expected between hosts Russia and the United States, the first meeting of these two sporting powerhouses in Paralympic competition.
Russia’s team only formed after the Vancouver Games in 2010, though they impressively won bronze at the world championships last year and they will certainly be targeting a medal in Sochi following the disappointing performances of the ice hockey teams in the Olympics.
The United States are defending champions having not conceded a single goal on their way to gold four years ago.
With seven golds, 10 silver and seven bronze making an aggregate of 24 medals in total, Russia are some distance clear at the top of the medal table and their tally is only likely to increase in the men’s 12.5km sitting biathlon.
The main focus will be on the rivalry between the great Roman Petushkov and his compatriot Irek Zaripov.
The former is the reigning world champion, having last year taken the crown that Zaripov won in 2011. But it was Zaripov who won gold in Vancouver, while Petushkov had to settle for bronze.
In the women’s 10km Standing event, Japanese 18-year-old Yurika Abe, who was born without the use of one arm and was then left homeless by the 2011 tsunami, will be competing in what will be one of the most heart-warming stories of the Games.
For the first time on British television, para-sports fans will be able to enjoy rolling live coverage of a Winter Paralympic Games and Channel 4 will be providing the most comprehensive TV output of the event in its history, with more than 50 hours of live action over the ten days of competition.

Day four is one of the busiest days at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi and both Channel 4 and More4 will have all the key action covered.
A total of 12 gold medals will be decided today with six of them in Alpine Skiing as the mighty Super-Combined competition takes place, comprising of a downhill and a slalom run.
First up this morning is the downhill phase and Great Britain’s Kelly Gallagher, Jade Etherington, Anna Turney and Mick Brennan will all be in action.
Plus, Great Britain face Finland in their latest round robin in the Wheelchair Curling competition.
With Channel 4’s coverage of the Cheltenham Festival beginning today, Winter Paralympics action will be divided between Channel 4 and More4 over the next four days.
Coverage switches to More4 for an hour at 8.00am while the The Morning Line airs over on Channel 4.

It’s also a busy morning at the Laura Biathlon and Ski Complex, where the Men’s 12.5km and Women’s 10km Biathlon make up six events where gold medals will be claimed.

There is an added edge in the Ice Sledge Hockey tournament this morning as Norway take on Scandinavian neighbours and arch-rivals Sweden.
The Norwegians were bronze medallists in Vancouver four years ago, but the Swedes are aiming to emulate the men’s Olympic Ice Hockey team and reach the final.
It’s also a busy morning at the Laura Biathlon and Ski Complex, where the Men’s 12.5km and Women’s 10km Biathlon make up six events where gold medals will be claimed.
