FA Cup 2013/14: 2nd Round live on ITV & BT Sport

The second round of this season’s FA Cup takes place this weekend and three matches will be shown live by ITV and BT Sport.

There is also action this evening (December 5) as Gateshead host Oxford United in a first round replay postponed from two weeks ago.

There is plenty at stake as the Conference side host the League Two leaders at Gateshead International Stadium with not just prize money but a lucrative, televised second round fixture for the winners.

Oxford travel with uncertainty surrounding their manager Chris Wilder, who has been allowed to speak to Portsmouth following the south coast club’s dismissal of Guy ‘Corporal Punishment’ Whittingham last week.

The match will be shown live on BT Sport 1 with Jake Humphrey and the team from 7.00pm, building up to a 7.45pm kick-off time.

After a hectic afternoon of second round ties on Saturday, ITV will broadcast a comprehensive highlights programme rounding-up the day’s action at 12.05am on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Featured matches include Northampton Town’s trip to non-league Grimsby Town, who conquered local rivals Scunthorpe United in the first round, Kidderminster Harriers against Newport County and Hartlepool’s home tie against Coventry City.

ITV again screens its live match on Sunday afternoon as Conference side Tamworth stage a plum tie against Bristol City, who were relegated from the Championship at the end of last season.

Tamworth visited Everton in the third round two seasons ago and in January 2007 hosted Norwich City in a match shown live on the BBC.

Though Bristol City are once again struggling in the league, they will surely be favourites but will not be anticipating an easy afternoon.

Adrian Chiles will host, with guest pundits Martin Allen and Clarke Carlisle; commentary from Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend.

Before then, BT Sport have a Sunday lunchtime live fixture as high-flying Conference side Cambridge United host Sheffield United at the Abbey Stadium (k/o noon).

Cambridge beat Bury 2-1 on Tuesday evening in a first round replay to earn the right to stage what should be a lucrative contest.

After the live action on Sunday comes one of the iconic moments of any football season as the draw for the third round is conducted at Wembley.

Both networks will carry the draw live at approximately 4.10pm, which will be presented by Mark Pougatch at Wembley Stadium.

ITV will show highlights of the two Sunday matches at 10.20pm, featuring a round-up of the weekend’s key moments and reaction to the draw as all 44 Premier League and Championship teams find out who they will be facing in the new year.

The second round concludes on Monday evening on BT Sport 1 as Wrexham host the winners of the Gateshead-Oxford replay, kicking off at 7.45pm.

BT Sport is scheduled to screen two live second round replays on December 17 and 18.
