The big guns from the Premier League and the Championship enter the fray as the FA Cup Third Round Draw is made at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, December 8, live on ITV.
Teddy and Charlie Sheringham will become the first father and son duo to conduct an FA Cup draw when they pick out the Third Round ties this weekend.
As all 44 sides from the top two divisions of English football enter the competition, the Sheringhams will conduct proceedings at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon at approximately 4.00pm.
The pair have both enjoyed success in FA Cup competitions at senior and junior levels.
Teddy was a winner of the famous Cup back in 1999, scoring for Manchester United in a 2-0 Final win over Newcastle United at Wembley.
In addition to his highly acclaimed playing career at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, he also scored eleven goals at international level in 51 appearances for England.
Teddy’s son Charlie, 25, was part of the Ipswich Town side that lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2005 following a 3-2 aggregate win over Southampton in the Final.
After leaving Portman Road, Sheringham Jnr went on to play for series of clubs including Crystal Palace, Welling United, Dartford and AFC Bournemouth.
He now plies his trade with League Two side AFC Wimbledon, who were knocked out of this season’s competition in the First Round Proper.
The Sheringham duo will draw out the balls for all 32 third round matches which will be played over the first weekend of 2014, from which ITV will chose its first and fourth pick ties in due course, while new FA Cup rights holders BT Sport will also pick three other live games.
The Third Round Draw will take place at around 4.00pm on Sunday, December 8, live on ITV and ITV HD following the channel’s live coverage of the Tamworth v Bristol City second round tie.
With regular draw presenter Mark Pougatch covering the Ashes in Australia for BBC Radio 5 live, the Third Round Draw will instead be hosted by Matt Smith.
BT Sport will also be simulcasting the draw live from Wembley with its half-hour programme beginning on BT Sport 2 at 4pm.
