Women’s FA Cup Semi-Finals live on BBC TV for the first time


The BBC has announced that it will broadcast live coverage of both of this season’s Women’s FA Cup semi-finals for the first time in the competition’s 48-year history.

A double-header of free-to-air women’s football on Sunday, 15 April, begins with the first semi-final between Everton Ladies and Arsenal Women, which will be shown live on the BBC Red Button service, as well online via the BBC Sport website and on BBC iPlayer, kicking off at 12.30pm.

Then later in the afternoon, Chelsea Ladies face Manchester City Women for the second spot in the showpiece final at Wembley, with kick-off at 3.30pm, live on BBC Two.

Manchester City are the current holders of the trophy, having beaten Birmingham City Ladies 4-1 in last season’s final, while Arsenal have lifted the trophy a record 14 times, and Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City have all won the FA Cup once in their history.

The 2018 Women’s FA Cup final will take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, live on BBC TV. 

It will be the first time that the corporation has shown live coverage of both Women’s FA Cup semi-finals. From next season they will share coverage of the latter stages of the competition with BT Sport, under their new broadcast deal with the FA which also includes the men’s FA Cup.

The Women’s FA Cup forms part of the BBC’s extensive coverage of women’s football, which includes regular live matches and weekly highlights from the FA Women’s Super League, as well as live coverage of Women’s World Cup qualifiers, featuring England, Wales and Scotland.
