Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals live on BBC & Sky Sports

All four Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals will be broadcast live across the BBC and Sky Sports on 7-8 May.

Current holders Leeds Rhinos were defeated in the third round by St Helens, whose tie with Huddersfield Giants will be shown live on Sky Sports at 8.15pm on Friday 7 May. Before then, Catalans Dragons take on Warrington Wolves in a 6pm kick off, also on Sky Sports.

Both matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Mix, which is free-to-view on Sky, Virgin Media and BT TV for non-Sky Sports subscribers.

Coverage switches to the BBC on Saturday, 8 May, with BBC Two showing Hull FC versus Wigan Warriors at 2.30pm, followed by Castleford Tigers and Salford Red Devils going head-to-head, also live on BBC Two at 5pm.

All four ties will be played at Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

The structure of this year’s Challenge Cup has been amended due to the impact of lockdown on community Rugby League, so the heavyweights from Super League entered the competition at the third round stage.

Commenting on the quarter-final schedule, RFL Chief Commercial Officer, Mark Foster, said:

“We’re delighted to be able to confirm that all four Quarter Final games will be broadcast live, and our thanks go to our broadcast and commercial partners for their continued support of Rugby League. The broadcasters have been extremely helpful in ensuring that all these games are televised and on successive days.

“Like last year, all Quarter Final matches are being played at a neutral venue, based on availability and suitability. In this case, Emerald Headingley Stadium offers a perfect venue for what promises to be an exciting round of matches.

“The two Round Three games shown by BBC last weekend drew the highest viewing figures for this particular round for four years, so we’ll be looking to maintain this momentum throughout this year’s competition.”

The BBC recently extended its deal with the RFL to broadcast live Challenge Cup matches on free-to-air television until at least 2024. The corporation will have exclusive live coverage of both this season’s semi-finals and the final itself at Wembley on 17 July.
