BT Sport announces opening live 2018/19 WSL matches

Manchester United’s first senior competitive women’s game since 2005 will be broadcast live on BT Sport, with Women’s Super League champions Chelsea also among the first set of games chosen for TV coverage.

The FA Continental Tyres Cup group stage clash will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2, with live streaming available on the BT Sport app and btsport.com, from 2pm on Sunday, 19 August.

The headline fixture kicks off BT Sport’s live coverage of women’s football for the 2018/19 season, with three matches from the new look Women’s Super League also picked by the broadcaster for live coverage.

A week later on Sunday, 9 September, holders Chelsea being the defence of their crown against 2016/17 champions Manchester City, live on BT Sport 3 from 2pm.

Further BT Sport matches over the opening weeks of the season include Brighton & Hove Albion’s home clash against Liverpool on Sunday 23 September, followed by Chelsea against Arsenal on Sunday 14 October, both live on BT Sport 1.

The regular BT Sport women’s football on-air team will return for the new season, led by presenter Natalie Quirk, pundit Rachel Brown Finnis and commentators Adam Summerton and Lucy Ward.

In addition to the Women’s Super League, BT Sport will also broadcast exclusive live coverage of both semi-finals from the Women’s FA Cup this season, along with shared coverage of the final with the BBC.

The corporation will also stream a Women’s Super League match live every weekend on the BBC Sport website, along with weekly highlights on The Women’s Football Show on Sunday evenings.

Live women’s football on BT Sport will sit alongside its extensive coverage of the Premier League, SPFL, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and FA Cup matches this season.
