BT Sport signs up Ian Wright and Robbie Savage

Ian Wright and Robbie Savage are joining BT Sport as part of the channel’s new look to its Saturday sporting programming for the 2014-15 football season.

Arsenal legend Wright will be part of BT Sport’s panel of expert analysts on a regular basis for its exclusive live matches in the Barclays Premier League and the FA Cup, having made his debut for the channel towards the end of last season.

Former Wales midfielder Savage will also join the punditry team and co-host a new Saturday morning show – Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav – alongside BT Sport commentator Darren Fletcher. 

The new show will kick off the network’s new-look Saturday schedule at 10.00am ahead of BT’s live Premier League fixture at 12.45pm, with Fletcher and Savage presenting live from the grounds of the respective home teams.

Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav will cover the biggest stories of the day and the build-up to the day’s football across the UK, Europe and beyond.

Running through all of BT Sport’s live programming on Saturdays, Matchday Live continues from 12noon when BT Sport brings fans exclusively live coverage of the lunchtime kick-off in the Barclays Premier League

This will be followed from 3.00pm every Saturday throughout the season by more live sport, including Aviva Premiership Rugby and European Champions Rugby, plus live action from Germany’s Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A and France’s Ligue 1.

SportsHUB, BT Sport’s live news programme broadcast from the channel’s Olympic Park studios, will complete Saturday’s Matchday Live line-up with live shows and updates, bringing fans the latest stories and reaction from the world of sport.

Fans should stick with BT Sport through Saturdays for their sporting updates with Matchday Live.”

BT Sport will kick off the new season in the Barclays Premier League with exclusively live coverage of Louis van Gaal’s first league game as the new Manchester United manager on the opening day of the new season on August 16, with coverage of his game against Swansea.

The channels, which are free for a second season for BT broadband customers, will also show current champions Manchester City three times in the Barclays Premier League during its initial selection of TV matches.

BT Sport recently signed a deal for up to four exclusively live matches a week from the Portuguese Primeira Liga, taking the channels’ total to six European leagues.

BT Sport also shows exclusively live matches from the Barclays Premier League,Germany’s Bundesliga, France’s Ligue1, Italy’s Serie A and the Scottish Professional Football League.
