Premier Sports has confirmed the seven live games it will broadcast live as part of its exclusive coverage of the 2020/21 Betfred Cup.
The competition kicks off on Tuesday, 6 October, with the opening Group A match between Hearts and Inverness Caledonian Thistle to be shown live on Premier Sports.
A further six matches will broadcast as the group stage progresses, culminating on 15 November with the Hibernian’s final Group B clash at home to Dundee, which will be followed by coverage of the draw for the last 16.
The eight group winners and four best runners-up qualify for the last 16, where they will be joined by European entrants Celtic, Rangers, Motherwell and Aberdeen, with these ties to be played over the weekend of 28-29 November.
Premier Sports takes over from BT Sport as the exclusive live rights holder of Betfred Cup matches this season, as part of the SPFL’s new TV rights deal from 2020/21 onwards, and becomes the home of live Scottish knockout football action, with the Betfred Cup joining its existing Scottish Cup coverage.
Its coverage will be produced by Sunset+Vine, who were previously in charge of BT Sport’s live Scottish football output, with Darrell Currie returning to present Premier Sports coverage along with regulars Chris Sutton, Stephen Craigan and commentator Rory Hamilton.
Following the last 16 ties at the end of the November, the quarter-finals will be played in the midweek of 15-17 December, followed by the semi-finals on 23-24 January and the final at Hampden Park on Sunday, 28 February, with all the key matches live on Premier Sports.
