BT Sport has announced that it will show 25 Aviva Premiership games exclusively live in the first eight rounds of the 2016/17 season.
Leicester Tigers’ trip to Kingsholm to face Gloucester in the opening game of the season is the first live fixture to be televised by BT Sport, kicking off a blockbuster weekend as the English top flight returns.
Bristol’s return to the Premiership begins in front of BT Sport cameras at Twickenham as they face Harlequins in the first game of the annual London Double Header, with champions Saracens hosting Worcester Warriors earlier in the day.
The final BT-televised match of the opening weekend sees last season’s runners-up Exeter Chiefs make the trip to the Ricoh Arena to play Wasps.
The second weekend of Aviva Premiership Rugby features live TV matches at Sixways, Welford Road and Sandy Park, with all 12 teams set to be featured throughout the season among BT Sport’s 69 exclusively live games.
Coverage will again be presented by Craig Doyle, Martin Bayfield and Sarra Elgan, with commentary and analysis from BT Sport regulars including Lawrence Dallaglio, Ben Kay, Austin Healey and Ugo Monye.
The only significant change to BT Sport’s coverage this season will be the earlier kick-off times for Saturday afternoon matches, which move forward to 3.00pm (previously 3.15pm), as the broadcaster switches to covering Premier League football games in the 5.30pm slot.
In addition to the Aviva Premiership, the Anglo-Welsh Cup returns for the 2016-17 season, with BT Sport taking over the live rights from Sky Sports.
The tournament, which was rested last season due to the Rugby World Cup, will kick off on the weekend of November 4-6 and there will be at least two live matches per round on BT Sport.
Prior to the Aviva Premiership kicking off in September, BT Sport will also have live coverage of the J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Series.
Free-to-air highlights of all English domestic rugby union action will continue to be broadcast every weekend during the season on ITV and ITV4.
