FA Cup 1st Round Draw live on BBC Two

This season’s Emirates FA Cup gets into gear on Monday evening when BBC Two broadcasts live coverage of the draw for the first round proper at 7.00pm.

Following last season’s tour around the country, the FA Cup is back out on the road this campaign, and its first stop is the clubhouse at Thackley Juniors FC.

The FA Charter Standard community club, based near Bradford, provides football opportunities for 33 boys and girls teams across 12 age groups and will host the draw as League One and Two clubs enter the fray.

Thirty-two non-league sides join the 48 league clubs in the draw, with Evo-Stik Southern Division One South & West side Didcot the lowest ranked team.

Not only will the BBC cameras be there, but accompanying presenter Mark Chapman to pick out the ties will be Bradford City legend Stuart McCall.

Former Scotland international McCall began his career with the Bantams in the early 1980s before moving to Everton in 1988.

It was only a year later, during his spell with the Toffees, that McCall played in the FA Cup Final.

He came off the bench against Merseyside rivals Liverpool to score a late equaliser before notching another in extra-time. However, Everton lost 3-2.

McCall moved to Glasgow Rangers for seven years but returned to Bradford in 1998 and has since enjoyed two stints as manager at Valley Parade. Most recently he was boss back at Rangers for the tail end of the 2014-15 season.

Monday’s draw, which will start at approximately 7.15pm, will also coincide with the FA’s 152nd anniversary.

The 32 non-League sides who have battled through qualifying will go into the legendary velvet bag with the 48 League clubs.

As well as BBC Two, the draw will also be on Radio 5 Live, as well as the BBC Sport website and app.

BBC Two’s half-hour programme covering the draw will also include reports and features on the weekend’s fourth qualifying round action.

The 40 first round ties will be played over the weekend of November 7-8 and will receive unprecedented coverage from the BBC and BT Sport, with BBC TV screening its first pick of the live ties, while fellow FA Cup broadcaster BT Sport will show two further live games.

The BBC will then bring fans all the best live action, highlights and analysis all the way to Wembley.

The first-round action kicks off on Friday, November 6 with live coverage from one of the most anticipated ties on BBC Two, presented by Dan Walker along with Trevor Sinclair and Jermaine Jenas.

On Saturday, November 7, Football Focus will be live at one of the day’s big fixtures, with FA Cup Final Score showing all the key action as it happens from eight selected matches on Sunday, November 8.

Every goal from every match will be available on the BBC Sport website and app as part of the BBC’s extensive digital coverage, providing fans with action as early as 5.15pm on the Saturday.

Finally, there will also be a comprehensive 90-minute highlights show on BBC Two on the Sunday at 6.30pm.

The BBC has a four-year contract to screen live FA Cup games running until 2018, in partnership with BT Sport.
