Sky & BBC confirm live Scottish Cup 5th Round ties

Sky Sports and BBC Sport Scotland have confirmed the 2014/15 William Hill Scottish Cup 5th Round ties they will be broadcasting live over the weekend of February 7-8.

Three ties will be televised from the fourth stage of the competition with two being shown live by Sky Sports and one will be screened on terrestrial television via BBC Scotland.

With so many top-flight sides falling by the wayside over fourth round weekend in November, only two all-Scottish Premiership ties were pulled out for the fifth round draw by former St Johnstone boss Owen Coyle and Eddie Thompson of the competition’s sponsors William Hill.

One of those all-Premiership ties will be the first televised game over fifth round weekend as Dundee host Scottish champions Celtic, which will be shown live on Sky Sports on Saturday, February 7, kicking off at 12.30pm.

This will be followed by two more live TV ties on Saturday, starting with Scottish League One side Stranraer, who beat Dunfermline Athletic in a fourth round replay, playing a home tie against Dundee United, also live on Sky Sports and again kicking off at 12.30pm.

The third and final televised tie will be shown live on BBC Scotland as Rangers take on Raith Rovers at Ibrox.

The Gers, who lost to Raith Rovers in the final of the Ramsdens Cup last April, have the chance of revenge after being paired with their Championship rivals.

Rangers have already hammered the Kirkcaldy side twice in the Scottish Championship this season, 4-0 at Stark’s Park and 6-1 at Ibrox, while Rovers have lost on their last six visits to Ibrox since a 2-2 Scottish Premier League draw in 1994.

Sky Sports and BBC Scotland will share live coverage of the pick of each round’s ties from Scotland’s greatest domestic cup competition between now until the final in May.

Sky Sports will screen the first and third pick matches from round four in November to the quarter finals in April, with BBC Scotland having the second choice of live games.

Both semi-finals will broadcast live on Sky Sports next April, while BBC Scotland will simulcast the second-choice last-four encounter, then the two broadcasters will then share live coverage of the Scottish Cup final, which will return to Hampden Park next year, on Saturday, May 30.

All of BBC Scotland’s coverage, including Sportscene highlights programmes over Scottish Cup weekend, will available to all UK viewers online via the BBC Sport Scotland website and on catch-up via BBC iPlayer, while BBC Scotland channels can also be viewed on Sky and Virgin Media platforms.
