FA Cup 1st Round Draw live on BBC Two

The FA Cup is back on BBC TV screens after a six-year absence with the draw for the First Round Proper of the 2014/15 competition live from St George’s Park on Monday, October 27.

There are 40 ties to be drawn as 48 clubs from League One and League Two join the non-league teams who have battled their way through qualifying, with the huge incentives on offer including potential ties in future rounds against the likes of Premier League heavyweights in Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.

With the return of the world’s oldest domestic cup competition to BBC TV screens this year, the corporation has unveiled its plans to revamp TV coverage of the competition, including the return of the FA Cup draw to Mondays in a new primetime slot.

Each of the draws will be staged at a different footballing location throughout the competition, all of which will be hosted by BBC Match of the Day 2 presenter Mark Chapman in front of a live audience.

This season’s competition proper kicks-off on BBC Two at 7.00pm on October 27, with the first round draw proper begin staged at St George’s Park, the FA’s national football centre in Burton-upon-Trent, which opened in 2012.

Joining Chapman to help conduct the first round draw itself will be three-time FA Cup winner and regular BBC pundit Phil Neville, alongside Derbyshire FA’s coach of the year Tammy Snape.

England Women’s captain Steph Houghton will also feature on the live BBC Two broadcast from the indoor training pitch at SGP, while 300 people from all levels of the game will make up the studio audience.

All eyes will be on the three smallest clubs left in the competition with Shildon, Willand Rovers and Greenwich Borough all hoping to progress this weekend and face Football League opposition in the first round.

Witham Town are another non-League side in unchartered waters, with the Essex based side aiming to see off Weston-Super-Mare at their Spa Road ground and reach round one for the first time in their 138-year history.

The draw numbers for Monday’s proceedings can be found below, so you can see which ball will represent your team as League One and League Two sides enter the fray.

BBC Two’s half-hour programme covering the draw will also include reports and features on the weekend’s fourth qualifying round action.

The first round ties will be played over the weekend of November 8-9 with BBC TV screening its first pick of the live ties, while fellow FA Cup broadcaster BT Sport will show two further live games.

The FA Cup is returning to BBC television after a six-year absence and fans will be able to watch up to 16 live matches on BBC One and BBC Two throughout the competition, as well as comprehensive highlights of every round.

One of the BBC’s innovations to revamp coverage of the early rounds of the competition is a new FA Cup Final Score show on Sundays, where eight of the first and second round matches will be moved to a new Sunday 2.00pm kick-off slot as part of an interactive programme, with goals and key moments shown as they happen.

FA Cup first-round weekend will be given special treatment across BBC TV, radio and online, with a selected match being screened live on BBC Two on Friday, 7 November.

That will kick off an exciting weekend of action, which also includes a special edition of Football Focus and Final Score on the Saturday, followed by clips of all the goals on the BBC Sport website.

From the third-round weekend onwards, two live games will be broadcast on BBC One, while Football Focus will be broadcast live from one of the match venues, plus there will be Match of the Day highlights on both Saturday and Sunday.

A similar pattern will follow for future rounds, culminating in FA Cup final week, when a special documentary will be aired on BBC One, with the showpiece match being played at Wembley on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

The BBC has a four-year contract to screen live FA Cup games running until 2018, in partnership with BT Sport.

BT Sport will also screen live coverage of every FA Cup draw on Monday nights in its daily sports news programme SportsHUB, presented by Des Kelly, with the 1st Round Draw being simulcast from 7.00pm on Monday, October 28.
