Goodwood Revival 2014 on ITV & Motors TV

Step back in time over the weekend of September 12-14 as racing cars and the stars of yesteryear assemble for three days of historic motorsport in the 2014 running of the Goodwood Revival, with coverage on ITV, Motors TV and online via Goodwood TV.

The world’s only vintage motor racing event set totally in the glamorous post-war years sees a host of motorsport stars past and present take part in an action-packed weekend of motor racing within a distinctly period setting, featuring mouth-watering grids, scintillating on-track action, and a number of significant anniversaries to celebrate.

Some of the big-name drivers in action over the weekend include Marussia Formula 1 racer Max Chilton, 2012 World Touring Car champion Rob Huff, and Le Mans 24 Hours winners Emanuele Pirro, Henri Pescarolo and Jackie Oliver.

Current British Touring Car Championship frontrunners Jason Plato, Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden, Andrew Jordan and Fabrizio Giovanardi will also be among those battling it out across the 15 races across the weekend.

The 13 categories cover a range of machinery, from Grand Prix cars of the 1940s to big banger sports-racers of the 1960s, via the blue riband RAC Tourist Trophy Celebration for GT cars of the 1960-1964 era.

There will also be a special Jaguar D-type race on Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary of the iconic three-time Le Mans winner.

Whether it’s seeing some of the world’s greatest vehicles in action or seeing the return to the track of some of motorsport’s most popular drivers, the 2014 Goodwood Revival is an event not to be missed for any motorsport fan and you can follow this very unique event with ITV, Motors TV and online via the official Goodwood Road & Racing website.

Following a successful debut last year, the whole of the 2014 Goodwood Revival meeting will be broadcast live online, with three days of coverage revving into action on Friday morning at 8.55am, featuring all the on track action, airing on the official Goodwood website and via its YouTube channel.

Qualifying begins on Friday morning, with the first race being the two-driver Sussex Trophy for 1955-1960 World Championship Sportscars that evening.

Motors TV will be screening live coverage of the Goodwood Revival for the first time 2014, featuring around three and half hours of action from both racedays at the weekend.

The opening race day of the world’s greatest classic motorsport event on Saturday (September 13) sees the Shelby Cup and RAC Tourist Trophy take centre stage at Goodwood’s period race circuit, with the circuit’s classic gathering of timeless machinery concluding on Sunday with live coverage of the St. Mary’s Trophy and RAC TT Celebration races.

Both live programmes, as well as event highlights, will be broadcast at various times across the Motors TV schedule in the weeks following the meeting.

ITV will again broadcast a special one-hour highlights show rounding up all the must-see moments from this year’s historic meeting at the famous Goodwood circuit, presented by Steve Rider and Amanda Stretton.

The channel’s free-to-air review show will premiere on ITV4 in a prime-time slot nearly two weeks after the event on Wednesday, September 24, at 9.00pm, also in high-definition on ITV4 HD.

A repeat showing will follow over on ITV and ITV HD the following Monday, September 29, at 11.40pm.

ITV’s highlights programme will feature a spectacular array of priceless cars in action, plus interviews with the likes of Mark Blundell, Sir Stirling Moss, Max Chilton, Andrew Jordan, Jason Plato, Matt Neal and many more.

Motor cycle legend Kevin Schwantz tackles the Barry Sheene Memorial bike race, there is a celebration of Sir Jackie Stewart’s career, a focus on the mighty Maserati 250F and a tribute to West Sussex at war.

The programme will be available to watch on ITV Player across all major devices for up to seven days after transmission.
