British Eurosport has extended its deal to broadcast exclusively live coverage of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament for three more years.

The pan-European channel will broadcast the 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of the tournament in over 50 countries across Europe, featuring live, delayed and replay rights.

Eurosport’s new deal with the tournament’s host broadcaster STAR Sports extends the association between the broadcaster and Champions League T20 cricket to seven years, having screened the competition since its inception in 2009.

Self-styled as the world’s premier club T20 cricket competition, featuring top teams from Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies, the Champions League Twenty20 will once again take place in India this year.

Matches begin on Saturday, September 13 with the qualifiers and run through to the final in Hyderabad on October 4, with Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mohali and Raipur all confirmed as venues for the three-week competition.

As was the case 12 months ago, due to the clash with the end of the English cricket season, no county sides will be taking part in this season’s Champions League competition, but there will still be a wealth of big names on show in India, including MS Dhoni, Mitchell Johnson, Jacques Kallis and Lasith Malinga.

David Kerr, managing director of British Eurosport said: “The Champions League Twenty20 tournament gives viewers spectacular cricket from some of the game’s top international stars.

“Eurosport has shown the CLT20 since 2009 and it’s brought many new viewers to the channel, so extending the deal to 2016 gives us an opportunity to build the tournament and cricket awareness in general.

“We now look forward to another exciting event in September this year.”

The Champions League Twenty20 is the only live cricket broadcast on British Eurosport, with all other major live international and domestic cricket contracts sewn up in long term deals with Sky Sports.

The only other exception from Sky’s extensive portfolio is the Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament, which is shown by BT Sport.
