Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014 on Sky Sports F1, ITV & Motors TV

The biggest names and the fastest machines in world motorsport descend on the beautiful surroundings of West Sussex for the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed and fans can follow this special event with Sky Sports F1, ITV and Motors TV.

Having established a reputation for being world motorsport’s largest garden party since 1993, the Festival of Speed is a unique summer weekend that brings together an impossibly heady mix of cars, stars and motorsport royalty to create the largest car culture event in the world.

The 2014 edition will take place from Thursday, June 26 to Sunday, June 29, and promises to be packed with action and excitement, as the planet’s most glamorous racing machinery and famous drivers gather together in the beautiful surroundings of Goodwood Park.

More than 180,000 visitors will pass through the gates of Lord March’s country estate across the three days, all wanting to get a glimpse of their favourite machines, drivers and motor racing personalities in the flesh.

Every Festival of Speed adopts a different theme each year and this year it is – ‘Addicted to Winning – The Unbeatable Champions of Motor Sport’ – celebrating drivers, riders, teams and manufacturers who have all swept before them in their chosen sport.

Among the many attractions across a variety of disciplines, 1996 Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill and Sky Sports F1 pundit will be among seven F1 title winners who will be present during the weekend.

Also confirmed from the world of F1 are Jenson Button, Emerson Fittipaldi, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, Sir Jackie Stewart and John Surtees, while current teams in attendance include Red Bull, McLaren, Williams and Mercedes, the latter of which will be celebrating its 120-year history at the festival.

One of the highlights will be 1964 F1 world champion Surtees, who has been an integral part of the festival since its inception, drive his title steed, a Ferrari 158, up the hill, half a century on from winning his only world title on four wheels.

Also from the world of Formula 1, Felipe Massa, pole sitter at the most recent grand prix in Austria, will drive the Williams FW18 up the hill in what will be his first visit to the event since 2003.

Held in the immaculate grounds of Goodwood House, the event is a true celebration of motorsport and all things automotive and the principal attraction of each day’s proceedings is the famous hillclimb.

The tree-lined run through the southern corner of the Goodwood Estate then turns to sweep past the front of Goodwood House before climbing a steep and narrow Estate road bordered by flint walls and dense woodland groves.

Each day, no fewer than 300 cars and motorcycles sprint their way up the iconic Hillclimb in a truly inspiring display of performance, power and pace.

From Formula 1, to classic motorbikes and modern prototypes, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has become a staple of the British sporting summer, having celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.

Whether it’s the world’s greatest vehicles making their rare and glorious return to the UK or the reuniting of some of the most iconic car-driver partnerships, the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed is an event not to be missed for every motorsport fan and you can follow this very special event with Sky Sports F1, ITV and Motors TV.

Sky Sports will broadcast a special two-hour highlights programme featuring the best moments from the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sky Sports F1 on the afternoon of Sunday, June 29.

The presenting team, led by Natalie Pinkham, David Croft and Johnny Herbert, will be based on a roof-top studio overlooking the famous Goodwood House and will be joined by a variety of special guests from the world of motorsport during the show.

Alongside action from the event’s vast variety of features and attractions, Sky Sports F1’s live Goodwood programme will also featuring action from on the principal attraction of the event – the famous hillclimb – as drivers, in a wide variety of machinery, take on the challenging 1.16-mile course, described in the commentary box by Will Buxton and Tony Jardine.

The whole programme will also be simulcast on Sky2, free-to-view for Sky customers, while repeats will be shown at various times across the Sky Sports network in the days after the event.

Motors TV will also have action from this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed as it screens live coverage of the event for the first time since 2003.

The dedicated motorsport channel will be showing Saturday’s running of the hillclimb blast up the legendary Goodwood course as a host of famous faces try to best the lap record in a wide range of classic machinery.

A highlights programme featuring the best moments from the hillclimb follows later in the evening.

ITV returns to Goodwood House to bring motorsport fans a special free-to-air one-hour review programme looking back at all the main highlights from the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Craig Doyle and Nicki Shields are on hand to present all the best features and attractions from the grounds of Goodwood House as they sample the sights and sounds of motorsport’s biggest annual garden party.

ITV’s review show will be shown first on ITV4 in a prime-time slot nearly two weeks after the event on Thursday, July 10, at 8.00pm and will also be screened in high-definition on ITV4 HD.

A repeat showing will follow over on ITV and ITV HD (transmission date/time TBC).

In addition, ‘Goodwood: Cars of the Future’, airing on Wednesday, July 9, on ITV4 will take a look at all things high tech, high spec and futuristic in the world of cars at the Goodwood Festival, including some of the greatest advancements in auto technology.

Goodwood’s official website will be offering full live video streaming of all four days of the event for the first time via its FoS LIVE page or via its YouTube channel (see below).

Starting with the ‘Moving Motor Show’ on Thursday, the website’s live coverage includes all the action from all three days on the Hillclimb, featuring commentary with Henry Hope-Frost and Bruce Jones, plus roving reports from Jennie Gow and Ben Constanduros.
