BT Sport has confirmed the names of the four finalists in its first ever Young FA Cup Presenter of the Year competition.
The final four, who were all shortlisted by BT Sport’s lead football presenter Jake Humphrey from hundreds of entries, are now one step closer to winning a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being part of BT Sport’s live FA Cup final coverage at Wembley on May 17.
Isobel Keane, aged 14 from Norwich, Jonathan Chappell, 17 from Crawley, Joseph Hadfield, 14 from Sheffield, and Adam Bailey, 15 from Congleton, are the four contestants who were judged to have submitted the best videos of themselves presenting a news report based on an FA Cup match.
BT’s nationwide initiative to find a young FA Cup presenter launched in January with the broadcaster aiming to find the best youth sports broadcasting talent of the future.
Entrants needed to shoot and record an original, one minute, single-camera-shot of themselves presenting an FA Cup news report using a smartphone or professional camera, but the film could not include additional footage, interviews, music or graphics.
Contestants then uploaded their video to YouTube and sent the URL to BT Sport as part of the entry form submission.
The final four will now attend a judging day at BT Sport’s studios at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Thursday, April 3.
At the final judging stage, the finalists will receive top tips on television presenting from Jake Humphrey himself and the BT Sport team, before recording a non-live, short piece to camera on the studio set.
The final four are already guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience at BT Studios and runners-up will receive FA Cup semi-final tickets and football shirts signed by the BT Sport presenting team.
The overall winner will get the chance to film a segment for BT Sport’s broadcast of the FA Cup Final day from London’s Wembley stadium, alongside Jake Humphrey.
Humphrey, who will help identify the winner as a judge, said: “BT Sport is committed to unearthing future talent and great stories, by giving youth an opportunity to join in with us.
“The volume and quality of entries for the competition were staggering, I cannot wait to meet the final four in person and put them through their paces before presenting with the winner on FA Cup Final day.”
BT Sport is the UK’s newest sports TV service, with three channels showing live top tier action from the Barclays Premier League and the Aviva Premiership as well as a host of other top sport, including exclusively live UEFA Champions League and Europa League football from 2015/16.
BT has more than two million customers who take the service and the channels reach around four million homes when BT’s wholesale deal with Virgin Media is taken into account.
BT Sport is currently covering its first season of live FA Cup football and is set to screen its first ever Wembley final in May.
The broadcaster will cover the famous cup competition for at least the next four seasons after signing a shared deal with the BBC covering 2014 to 2018.
