After months of speculation over the future of some of the Premier League’s biggest stars, top-flight clubs have until 11.00pm on Friday night (January 31) to strengthen their squads, and invariably many transfers will only be resolved at the last minute.
It promises to be yet another busy deadline day as clubs scramble to sign new players to boost their ambitions and January has certainly proved to be crucial transfer window over the last few seasons.
During the winter market, Manchester United acquired defensive lynchpin Nemanja Vidic and Chelsea snared Branislav Ivanovic – both of whom played significant roles in title-winning sides.
Liverpool have also done note-worthy business in January in recent years – paying £22.8m for world class striker Luis Suarez three days before the 2011 window slammed shut.
Even more famously, the Reds shelled out £35m on a last-gasp Deadline Day deal to take striker Andy Carroll from Newcastle the same year.
During the previous transfer window last summer English clubs spent over £490m, with deadline day moves including Dimitar Berbatov’s switch from Manchester United to Fulham and Tottenham’s acquisition of Hugo Lloris from Lyon.

BBC Sport will bring football fans the very latest on every move across television, radio and online as the January Transfer Window draws to a close.
On BBC TV, Dan Walker will present a Transfer Deadline Day special edition of Football Focus on BBC One from 11.25pm on Friday night.
He will be joined by Danny Murphy, Martin Keown and Owen Coyle to round up the day’s events in a special 35-minute programme.
Walker and the BBC’s team or reporters will also bring fans the latest transfer news throughout the day via the BBC Red Button, which can also be viewed via the BBC Sport website.
A Deadline Day special will run from 1.00pm to 11.15pm and feature regular updates from the BBC Sport Centre in Salford.
The BBC News Channel will broadcast a Transfer Deadline Day edition of Football Focus at 6.30pm, presented by Dan Walker, that will also be streamed on the BBC Sport website.
There will be regular transfer news on BBC national and regional television stations across the country.
