Dedicated pay-TV boxing channel BoxNation has announced it is to launch of a new high-definition service – BoxNation Live HD – in 2014.

The self-styled ‘Channel of Champions’ is set to debut its high-definition channel early next year, starting with heavyweight hitman Dereck Chisora’s ring return on Saturday, February 8, live from the Copper Box Arena.

BoxNation Live HD will then show all the channel’s live fights in high-definition at no further cost to subscribers on the Sky TV platform, providing they own an HD-ready TV set.

Also featuring on the February 8 card will be former light-heavyweight world champion Nathan Cleverly, who makes his step up to cruiserweight, while WBO European super-middleweight champion Frank Buglioni and English welterweight champion Bradley Skeete will also be taking part.

The announcement on an HD service, which BoxNation bosses had planned for some time since its launch in 2011, comes following an incredible year for the channel.

It has delivered boxing fans the world’s biggest fights, including the iconic Floyd Mayweather’s record breaking showdown with Canelo Alvarez and Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao’s sensational return against Brandon Rios in Macau in November.

Founded by boxing promoter Frank Warren, the investment in a dedicated HD channel follows BoxNation’s burgeoning success since its launch two years ago, with the channel continuing to go from strength-to-strength.

Jim McNunn, managing director of BoxNation, said: “We are delighted to once again deliver for our loyal and dedicated viewers.

“The channel has grown at a remarkable rate and the obvious next step for us was to invest in an HD channel.

“Our subscribers had been calling for it, so we are thrilled to be able to offer this service to them.

“It has been a truly fantastic year for BoxNation which has screened the biggest and best fights both domestically and worldwide.

“Our HD launch, starting early next year, will ensure the channel continues to flourish, as we look to lineup the best bouts of 2014.”

BoxNation will reveal more details about the high definition launch, and the live and exclusive fights to be added to the schedule, in the New Year.

The channel, fronted by an acclaimed on-air team including Steve Bunce, Jim Rosenthal, Steve Lillis and John Rawling, is available on Sky (channel 437), Virgin (546), online at LIVESPORT.TV and via iPhone, iPad or Android, for £10 per month.
