British Cycling has announced that both of its national road series will be covered by British Eurosport in 2013.
The new broadcast deal covers the six rounds of the Elite Circuit Series and Premier Calendar respectively, all of which will be shown in a highlights programme broadcast just days after each event.
British Eurosport will bring cycling fans the best action from the British pro peloton throughout 2013, adding to its comprehensive coverage of cycling’s biggest events.
The self-proclaimed ‘home of cycling’ screens extensive coverage of all the classic races, including Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta a Espana, plus a huge variety of one-day and stage races throughout the year.
Jonny Clay, Cycle Sport and Membership director at British Cycling said: “British Cycling is happy to be working with Eurosport again on airing our national road series.
“The channel gives us a great route to the core cycling audience and puts the best of our domestic calendar alongside the broadcast of some of the monuments of our sport.
“This broadcast deal provides the organisers of the events across the series with a great platform upon which to capitalise on the unprecedented popularity of our sport.”
British Eurosport has screened selected coverage of British Cycling’s Elite Circuit Series and Premier Calendar in recent years.
David Kerr, Managing Director of British Eurosport, said: “Adding the best domestic races to our existing 40 race programme of Grand Tours and Classics adds even greater depth to our year round cycling coverage and strengthens our position as the home of Cycling.”
