ITV have confirmed that Lee Dixon has joined its punditry team for the forthcoming season.
The former Arsenal and England defender will be part of ITV’s studio panel led by presenter Adrian Chiles across the network’s live football output.
He will offer insight and expert studio analysis on ITV’s coverage of England’s 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, as well as for UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League matches.
Dixon announced his departure from the BBC after eight years as a regular on its football coverage earlier this week via Twitter, saying: “Sad to be leaving BBC. Nothing lasts forever. New challenges ahead. Loved my time there. Wonderful people.”
Niall Sloane, ITV’s director of sport, said: “We are delighted that Lee is joining our team with his wealth of experience, knowledge and insight.
“His appointment follows our acclaimed Euro 2012 broadcasts and signals ITV Sport’s intention to continue to bring viewers top-quality coverage.”
