FA Cup 6th Round Draw live on BBC One

0

The draw for the Sixth Round of this season’s FA Cup will take place in Preston on Monday, February 16, live on BBC One.

With the return of the world’s oldest domestic cup competition to BBC TV screens this season, the corporation has put in its mark by revamping TV coverage of the FA Cup, including the return of the draw to Mondays in a new primetime slot.

Each of the draws will be staged at a different location throughout the competition, all of which will be hosted by BBC Match of the Day 2 presenter Mark Chapman in front of a live audience.

The Sixth Round draw will take place prior to the BBC’s live Fifth Round tie between Preston North End and Manchester United, with four ties set to be drawn out at Deepdale in front of a national audience who will be able to see how the Cup unfolds into the last stage before the trips to Wembley.

England manager Roy Hodgson will help make the draw for the Sixth Round at Deepdale alongside Brian Finney, the son of Preston North End legend Sir Tom Finney, ahead of the Lilywhites’ Fifth Round tie against the Red Devils.

Sir Tom made over 430 appearances for Preston, and won 76 England caps, with the weekend of this year’s Fifth Round marking the first anniversary his death.

With The Cup reaching the quarter-final stage, just four ties will be drawn out of the velvet bag and fans can find out who faces who by watching live coverage on BBC One, or via the video player below, courtesy of FA TV.

This season’s Sixth Round ties will be played over the weekend of March 7-8 with BBC TV screening two live quarter-final ties, including first pick, while fellow FA Cup broadcaster BT Sport will also show two live games.

The FA Cup returned to BBC television after a six-year absence and fans will be able to watch up to 16 live matches on BBC One and BBC Two throughout the competition.

Aside from the two live games on BBC TV, Saturday’s Football Focus will be broadcast live from one of the match venues, plus there will be Match of the Day highlights on both Saturday and Sunday.

A similar pattern will follow for future rounds, culminating in FA Cup final week, when a special documentary will be aired on BBC One, with the showpiece match being played at Wembley on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

The BBC has a four-year contract to screen live FA Cup games running until 2018, in partnership with BT Sport.

BT Sport will also screen live coverage of every FA Cup draw on Monday nights in its regular discussion series Football Tonight, presented by Des Kelly, with the Fourth Round Draw being simulcast from 7.20pm on Monday, January 26.
