BBC Sport will once again showcase the biggest and best meetings on the athletics calendar in 2014 across all its platforms, culminating with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the European Championships in the summer.
The London Marathon, Great North Run, British Championships and the entire Diamond League season – including the two meetings staged in the UK – are also just some of the many world class events that the corporation will cover in a packed 2014 schedule.
Watch double Olympic champion Mo Farah make his full marathon debut in London in April, as well as every meeting from the IAAF Diamond League as the best athletes compete around the world for the Diamond Trophy.
Later in the year, there will be comprehensive coverage of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the European Championships in Zurich across the BBC, with the Great North Run to follow in the autumn.
The recent RTS award-winning BBC TV athletics team will be led throughout the 2014 calendar by presenters Gabby Logan and Jonathan Edwards.
Leading the commentary team will be Steve Cram, Andrew Cotter and Paul Dickenson with expert analysis coming from BBC regulars by Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson, Paula Radcliffe and Michael Johnson.
Following a thrilling World Indoor Championships in Sopot back in March, BBC TV’s athletics coverage continues apace with the London Marathon on Sunday, April 13.
Fans can follow every step of one of the year’s stand-out sporting events on TV, radio and online, with Jonathan Edwards introducing the live action on BBC One from 8.30am, while John Inverdale presents coverage on BBC Radio 5 live.
Edwards will be joined by three-time London Marathon winner and world record-holder Paula Radcliffe who will offer her inside knowledge and expertise on the race.
Joining Paula in the commentary box is Steve Cram, Baroness Tanni-Grey Thompson and Brendan Foster, while reporting on the course will be Colin Jackson, Denise Lewis, Ore Oduba and Phil Jones, while Helen Skelton presents highlights on BBC Two later in the day.
Moving into May, the ever-popular Great Manchester CityGames and Great Manchester Run return on May 17-18 with full live coverage on the BBC.
Also from May, Gabby Logan and Jonathan Edwards will share the presenting duties to bring in-depth coverage of the Diamond League season, with meetings across the UK, Europe and beyond.
Coverage begins on BBC Red Button with the first meeting in Doha on May 9, with the highlight this year being the Glasgow meet in the summer as Hampden Park hosts a Diamond League event on July 11-12, ahead of the Commonwealth Games in the city just 11 days later.
The meetings regularly attract world-class athletes, including Usain Bolt, Christine Ohuruogu, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Mo Farah.
BBC presenters Gabby Logan and Jonathan Edwards will be joined again by Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson and Michael Johnson for expert analysis with commentary from Steve Cram.
Catch all the live action from the Diamond League season, from May to September, across BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Radio 5 live, 5 live sports extra, BBC Red Button and online.
BBC Sport will also be live from the European Team Championships in Braunschweig, Germany on the June 21-22 and the British Championships in Birmingham from June 27-29 with highlights and live coverage on television, BBC Radio 5 live and via the BBC Sport website.
The pinnacle in the 2014 athletics calendar will of course be Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games in July and August, live across all major BBC TV and radio networks, as the 11-day event welcomes over 70 teams of athletes to Scotland.
Gary Lineker, Clare Balding, Hazel Irvine and Gabby Logan lead the BBC TV presenting team throughout the event, while a host of former Olympic champions and experts will join the corporation’s Commonwealth Games team to offer their unique and experienced insights and knowledge across the Games.
Glasgow 2014 will be delivered to viewers across BBC mobile, tablet, desktop and connected TVs, meaning audiences can get closer to the action, wherever they are.
The BBC’s athletics coverage will not stop there, as Gabby Logan and Jonathan Edwards travel to Zurich for the European Championships on August 12-17.
The bi-annual event attracts 1,400 athletes competing in 47 disciplines and athletics fans can catch all the action on BBC television.
The Great North Run tops off a great 2014 athletics calendar as more than 56,000 people run the route across the North East of England on Sunday, September 7.
This year, the Great North Run will see its one-millionth finisher and BBC Sport will be there to capture that and all the key moments from this highly anticipated event.
In addition to live TV and radio throughout 2014, athletics fans will again be able to make the most of a rich multi-screen viewing experience through access to online and interactive services.
These include BBC Red Button, connected TV and the BBC Sport website – bbc.co.uk/sport – is available via desktop, mobile, tablet and app, giving fast and easy access to the live stream, text commentaries, news, reports, schedules and videos.
