FA Cup 2013-14: 1st Round Draw live on ITV

0

As the Football Associations celebrates its 150th anniversary this weekend, the FA Cup with Budweiser returns to our screens with ITV showing the First Round draw of the 2013-14 competition.

Teams from the bottom two divisions of the Football League enter the competition hoping to avoid being the victims of an upset by the non-league sides who have battled through the qualifying rounds.

Wigan Athletic are the holders of English football’s most historic and treasured prize, having upset Manchester City in last season’s final at Wembley.

This season’s first round draw takes place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, the site where the Football Association was founded in 1863 and which is also hosting the FA’s gala dinner, attended by the Duke of Cambridge, the night before.

On Sunday at 1.35pm, the first televised FA Cup draw of the season will continue the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations with Gerard Houllier and Ray Parlour as special guests alongside presenter Mark Pougatch.

Houllier led Liverpool to FA Cup victory in 2001 when they beat Arsenal at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Michael Owen scored both goals as the Reds came from behind to win 2-1 in a game that saw Ray Parlour come on as a second-half sub for the Gunners.

It was the only FA Cup runners-up medal of Parlour’s career at Arsenal, with the former England midfielder lifting the trophy four times in 1993, 1998, 2002 and 2003.

Parlour also opened the scoring in 2002 as Arsene Wenger’s side beat Chelsea 2-0 in Cardiff.

The draw numbers for Sunday proceedings are below, so you can see which ball will represent your team as League One and League Two sides enter the fray.

ITV’s half-hour programme covering the draw will also include reports on the weekend’s fourth qualifying round action.

BT Sport will also be simulcasting the draw live from London with coverage beginning on BT Sport 2 at 1.45pm.

The first round ties will be played over the weekend of November 9-10 with ITV screening its first pick of the live ties, plus new FA Cup rights holders BT Sport will show a further two live games.
