Quest and British Eurosport will screen live coverage of the Dubai Football Challenge 2014 friendly match between reigning European champions Real Madrid and Italian giants AC Milan.
The highly anticipated one-off footballing spectacle will be simulcast on both Discovery-owned channels for the first time, giving more fans the chance to tune into the heavyweight clash that brings down the curtain on another great sporting year.
Taking place on Tuesday, December 30, the Dubai Football Challenge will be staged at the 40,000 capacity Sevens Stadium in Dubai and has already sold out its ticket allocation.
Real Madrid boasts a squad full of ‘Galacticos’, most notably Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the current holder of the Ballon D’Or as World Player of the Year.
The Spanish giants also have former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and Welsh International Gareth Bale, as well as Luka Modrić, James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos.
AC Milan is managed by former striker Filippo Inzaghi who won both the Italian title and European Cup in his playing days at the club.
The squad also includes the likes of Stephan El Shaarawy and on-loan Chelsea forward Fernando Torres.
Live coverage on both Quest and British Eurosport will start at 3.45pm with presenter Rob Curling and studio guests Gaizka Mendieta and Trevor Francis.
Mendieta won 40 caps for Spain and played in La Liga for Valencia and Barcelona and Serie A with Lazio, as well as enjoying a spell in the Premier League with Middlesbrough.
Former England striker Francis won 52 caps for his country and was the world’s first million pound player when he joined Nottingham Forest, for whom he scored the winning goal in the 1979 European Cup Final.
The striker later went on to play a total of 89 matches in Italy’s Serie A for Sampdoria and Atalanta.
Match commentary will be provided by Wayne Boyce and former Arsenal and West Ham player Stuart Robson.
