Dedicated football website Goal has picked up the live UK rights to broadcast matches from the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup, currently underway in Morocco, beginning with Champions League holders Real Madrid’s semi-final tie.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who are firm favourites to land the title in northern Africa, start their quest on Tuesday, December 16 against CONCACAF champions Cruz Azul from Mexico, in a semi-final clash which has been moved from its original venue in Rabat to Marrakech following heavy rain.
Goal will also broadcast the second semi-final the following day featuring Oceania club champions Auckland City against Copa Libertadores winners San Lorenzo, the Argentinian club supported by Pope Francis.
Following live streaming of both semi-final clashes, Goal will then show the third-place play-off match on Saturday, December 20, followed immediately by exclusively live UK coverage of the FIFA Club World Cup Final itself, which kicks off at 7.30pm UK time.
The last-minute deal marks Goal’s first significant foray into live streaming of major football matches. The dedicated football website reaches more than 60 million football fans with the news from all the major leagues, teams and players around the world, all sourced by more than 500 reporters from 50+ countries.
Goal’s live online coverage will be available exclusively to users based in the UK, as well as Ireland. It can be accessed via its website or on its YouTube channel (see video player below).
